About the course

A four-year, full-time course in making dance and performance, taught in English, with a focus on creating your own work, thinking critically about dance and performance, and body awareness. It is a practical, career-focused degree at an arts academy for people who want to become choreographers and performance makers.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The institution assesses the Irish Leaving Certificate individually and does not publish a fixed Irish requirement. Contact admissions to confirm.
  • Admission is by audition. After a first screening of applications, 80-100 candidates send a 3-minute solo video and a 3-minute self-interview video. About 30 are then invited to a live audition in Amsterdam with contemporary technique classes, movement research, a group assignment and an interview.
  • Classes are in English. If the audition shows your English is not strong enough, your acceptance letter will say you must complete an English course during the summer before you start and bring the certificate at the start of the year.

  3. Live auditionAbout 30 shortlisted candidates audition in Amsterdam on 25 and 26 March 2027 (classes, group assignment, interview).
  4. Enrol in StudielinkIf you are admitted, register as an AHK student through Studielink before September 2027.

Costs

  • Standard Dutch EU fee: €2,694 (2026/27). AHK already lists the 2027/28 statutory fee as €2,771.
  • EU students may be eligible for a Dutch tuition-fee loan (DUO).
Selective course: places are given through the audition, not by grades alone. SNDO takes a maximum of 10 students a year.
