About the course

This interdisciplinary bachelor’s is an English-language programme. It takes 8 semesters (240 ECTS). The first year covers programming, statistics, academic research, human rights, international organisations and artistic practice. Later years are split into study areas (science and technology, economics and politics, artistic strategies) and built around a different global challenge topic each year.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Austria has no CAO-style points system. Die Angewandte asks for a school-leaving certificate or an international equivalent, plus a pass in the admission procedure. Each university decides whether your Leaving Certificate counts as equivalent to the Austrian Reifeprüfung, usually by looking at the number of subjects and how many were at Higher Level. Die Angewandte’s specific rules for the Leaving Cert could not be confirmed, so ask admissions before you apply.
  • Entry is by online application in January followed by a personal interview in Vienna (end of February or start of March 2027).
  • The course is taught in English. The English requirement for the bachelor’s, and whether Leaving Cert English is accepted as proof, could not be confirmed. Ask the CDS office (cds@uni-ak.ac.at).
