About the course

A three-year business degree in tourism covering tourism management (hotels, destinations, international tourism), innovation and digital transformation (product development, AI, digital media and eTourism) and sustainability. It includes a work placement, specialisation options from the third semester and the chance of an exchange semester. Classes run Monday to Thursday, full days, plus excursions.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • FH Salzburg admits you if your school-leaving certificate is judged equivalent to the Austrian Reifeprüfung. The final decision rests with the programme head, each case is assessed individually, and extra exams can be required. Nothing specific to the Irish Leaving Certificate is published, so confirm with admissions how many Higher Level subjects and which grades (H1-H8) they expect. Your Leaving Cert is issued in English, so it does not need a sworn translation.
  • Admission has three steps: an online application (school certificate, motivation letter, CV, passport copy), a multiple-choice test in English with an essay covering business, economics, tourism and IT, and a personal interview. EU applicants do the test and interview on campus.
  • English: B2 is the minimum and C1 is recommended. An English certificate is optional because your English is assessed in the test and interview.

How to apply

  1. Check datesThe 2027 dates should appear on the programme’s Dates and Deadlines page. In the 2026 cycle, applications opened on 30 October and the EU deadline was 15 June.

  3. Sit the test and interviewTravel to Campus Urstein for the English multiple-choice test, the essay and the interview. In 2026 the sessions were in March, May, June and July, so choose an early session if you can.
  4. Accept and enrolIf you are offered a place, accept it, pay the €363 tuition and the ÖH fee, and arrange accommodation in Salzburg before the semester starts in early October.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: For October 2026 entry: applications opened 30 October 2025 and the EU deadline was 15 June 2026 (non-EU: 1 April 2026). EU applicants sat the on-campus test and interview on one of these dates: 12 March, 28 May, 18 June or 2 July 2026. The semester started on 5 October 2026. Dates for 2027 entry are not yet published, but expect a similar cycle and apply early, as test dates start in March..

Costs

  • Tuition is €363 per semester (€726 a year), plus the Austrian student union (ÖH) fee of about €25-26 per semester (the programme’s own pages give both €25.20 and €26.20). The admission page also mentions roughly €500 for excursions. No application fee is mentioned.
There are only 35 places and entry depends on an on-campus test and interview, not on points. FH Salzburg lists the course as ‘part-time’, but classes run Monday to Thursday, full days, so plan for it to be a full workload.
