About the course

A three-year, 180 ECTS applied (professional) bachelor taught in English at Campus Connect in Heverlee, Leuven. It is built around hands-on projects, collaborative learning and contact with industry. The programme combines core courses (120 ECTS), a specialisation track (30 ECTS) and project courses (30 ECTS). In years 2 and 3, students choose one of six tracks (Software Development, Business IT Solutions, IT Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, User-centric Development or Artificial Intelligence) or a personalised track.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • UCLL’s admissions page lists the Irish Leaving Certificate as accepted if you pass at least 6 subjects, with at least 3 at Higher Level.
  • The programme page says no previous programming knowledge is needed. It mentions no entrance test and no required Leaving Cert Maths level.
  • English: UCLL requires B2 level, but you do not need a language test if your secondary diploma was issued in Ireland. Otherwise, UCLL accepts tests such as IELTS Academic 6.5 (no section below 5.5) or Cambridge B2 First 180, and results must be less than 2 years old.

Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: For 2026/27 entry, EU/EEA applicants without a Flemish or Dutch diploma had to apply and complete the diploma check by 31 August 2026. The 2027 deadline has not been published yet but is expected to be similar. UCLL’s Admissions Office takes 2 to 4 weeks to process files, so apply well before the deadline and confirm the 2027 date on UCLL’s degree application page..

Costs

  • UCLL charges EU/EEA students the Flemish regulated tuition fee. For 2026/27 this is EUR 1,181.40 for a full-time year of 60 ECTS: a fixed EUR 305.40 plus EUR 14.60 per credit. The 2027/28 amount is not published yet and is normally only a little higher. There is also a non-refundable EUR 50 application fee. Course materials and other costs are extra.
This is a professional (applied) bachelor from a university of applied sciences, not an academic university degree, and it has a strong practical, project-based focus. No programming experience is needed to start. The 31 August deadline falls close to Leaving Cert results day, so apply early and upload your results as soon as you get them.
