About the course

This is a 12-course Psychology major within AUBG’s US-style liberal arts bachelor’s degree, taught in English over eight semesters. It covers research methods, social, developmental and physiological psychology, personality and psychopathology. The average class size is 28.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • AUBG publishes no Irish-specific rule. It reviews your school transcript for the last three years (or your diploma with final grades) and recommends a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. It does not say how Leaving Cert grades (H1 to H8) convert, so ask admissions. Copies of your diploma must be notarised. Under Bulgarian national rules, EU applicants may also need recognition of their secondary education, so confirm this with AUBG.
  • You also need an essay of about 650 words, one academic reference letter, a CV or portfolio, and an admissions interview (in person or online). SAT and ACT scores are optional.
  • English: AUBG may waive proof of English for citizens of Ireland who were mainly educated there. Otherwise you need IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 80 or Duolingo 110, or you can sit AUBG’s free institutional test.

How to apply

  1. Apply onlineFill in the AUBG application form (apply.aubg.edu) or the Common App. There is no application fee. Aim for Priority (15 Jan) or Early (15 Mar).
  2. Upload documentsUpload your essay, one academic reference, your CV and your transcripts. Copies of your diploma must be notarised. Ask about an English waiver as an Irish-educated applicant.
  3. InterviewAfter your transcript and English evidence are in, you will be invited to an interview, in person or online. AUBG says you will get a decision 4 to 6 weeks after the deadline.
  4. Check the diploma and enrolBefore accepting, ask AUBG whether Psychology leads to a Bulgarian/EU-recognised diploma. Then send a notarised copy of your Leaving Cert diploma and pay fees for the semester.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: There are three rounds: Priority Admission 15 January, Early Admission 15 March and Regular Admission 15 May. AUBG does not say which intake year these dates are for, so confirm the 2027 dates. Apply early for the best scholarship chances. Some older AUBG pages give 1 March and 1 June..

Costs

  • €6,900 a semester, so €13,800 a year in 2026/27. AUBG charges the same fee to all students whatever their nationality. There is no application fee. AUBG offers merit scholarships of up to 40% off tuition, and some full scholarships. On-campus housing costs extra, €925 to €1,700 a semester.
AUBG’s Psychology page lists the diploma as ‘US accredited’ only. Computer Science, by contrast, is listed as ‘US & EU accredited’. If you plan to go on to postgraduate study or professional psychology training in Ireland, check how this degree is recognised first. A bachelor’s alone does not qualify you to practise as a psychologist.
