About the course

A Master’s degree in Dental Medicine taught in English: 10 semesters followed by a 9-month pre-diploma clinical clerkship. Bulgarian is a compulsory subject in the first two years for clinical contact with patients.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The university assesses the Irish Leaving Certificate individually and does not publish a fixed Irish requirement. Contact admissions to confirm. Its general rule is that applicants must have studied Biology and Chemistry at school with an average of at least 62% of the maximum mark, and a NACID certificate of completed secondary education is required.
  • Online entrance tests in Biology and Chemistry, plus an English diagnostic test. Score = Biology x3 + Chemistry x3 + English mark, maximum 42, minimum 21. Competition was very strong in 2026.
  • English: the diagnostic test requires at least B1 level. The FAQ says native English speakers do not need to sit the English exam, so confirm with admissions.

Working in Ireland afterwards

A dental degree from an EU member state that is listed in the EU Professional Qualifications Directive (2005/36/EC, as amended) can be recognised automatically by the Dental Council of Ireland. To get this, you provide a certificate from your home country’s competent authority confirming the degree meets the Directive’s minimum training conditions, plus proof of English-language proficiency. EU dental degrees that do not qualify for automatic recognition may instead be assessed under the Directive.

Documents were due by 11 September 2026. Costs

  • EUR 10,000 per year for the English-taught Dental Medicine programme in 2026/27. The university publishes one fee for its English programmes and does not list a lower EU rate. Entrance test fees: EUR 300 per standard exam date (EUR 30 data processing plus EUR 270 for the tests), or EUR 400 for the September re-sit; non-refundable after the registration deadline.
