About the course

A practical, career-focused degree in which you work on data and AI projects in small international teams, taking roles such as data scientist, data engineer or analytics translator. You learn Python from the basics, and there is a work placement in the second half of year 3.

Entry requirements for Irish students

• BUas treats the Irish Leaving Certificate as equivalent to the Dutch HAVO diploma if you have at least 5 subjects from the established programme at O6/H7 or better, plus at least 200 CAO points. Irish applicants do not need an English test (secondary education in Ireland is exempt).
• Selection includes a basic maths test at HAVO level (calculations, linear equations and reading graphs). No specific Leaving Cert maths grade is published and no programming experience is needed.
• Selection: an online portfolio (intake) assignment followed by an online interview in English.

How to apply

1. Apply in StudielinkRegister for the programme in Studielink by 1 May 2027.
2. My Online ApplicationUpload your CV, passport and your most recent grades by 4 May 2027. You can apply and take part in selection while still doing your Leaving Cert.
3. Portfolio and interviewOnce your documents are checked you get the portfolio assignment (deadline 15 May 2027, 23:59 CET). If invited, you have an online interview in English; interviews are scheduled monthly from January 2027.
4. DecisionYou hear within 10 working days of the interview. You can take part in only one intake round and cannot resubmit.

Costs

• EU/EEA fee: €3,750 for 2027/28. This is higher than the standard Dutch fee because the programme is recognised by the NVAO as ‘small-scale and intensive’ (smaller groups, more guidance). BUas also says to budget for software, excursions and similar extra costs.
• EU students may be eligible for a Dutch tuition-fee loan (DUO).
