About the course

A practical, career-focused degree where you learn to make games in multidisciplinary teams. You choose a track before you start: programming, visual arts, game design or business and production.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • BUas treats the Irish Leaving Certificate as equivalent to the Dutch HAVO diploma if you have at least 5 subjects from the established programme at O6/H7 or better, plus at least 200 CAO points. Irish applicants do not need an English test (secondary education in Ireland is exempt).
  • You need some prior experience in your chosen track (solid basics, not expert level). The portfolio assignment is track-specific, for example building a game in C++ (Programming) or creating 3D models (Visual Arts), followed by an interview in English.

How to apply

  1. Apply in StudielinkRegister in Studielink by 1 May 2027 at the latest; applying early lets you join an earlier selection round.
  2. My Online ApplicationUpload your CV, passport and school results (by 4 May 2027). Once your education is verified you get the portfolio assignment.
  3. Portfolio and interviewSubmit the assignment in one round only: 27 November, 15 January, 5 March or 15 May. Interviews (online for applicants living abroad) follow about two weeks after each round.
  4. DecisionResults come within about 10 working days of the interview; final decisions by 7 July at the latest.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Apply in Studielink by 1 May 2027 and complete My Online Application by 4 May 2027. The portfolio assignment is submitted in one of four rounds: 27 November, 15 January, 5 March or 15 May (final). Applying early lets you use an earlier round..

Costs

  • EU/EEA fee: €3,750 for 2027/28. This is higher than the standard Dutch fee because the programme holds the ‘small-scale and intensive education’ distinction. Extra first-year costs listed include an introduction week (€195) and track books: about €780 (Programming), €550 (Design & Production) or €300 plus €180 art supplies (Visual Arts). A laptop meeting track specifications is also needed.
  • EU students may be eligible for a Dutch tuition-fee loan (DUO).
Selective course with a capped intake: you must pass a portfolio assignment and interview. You can submit the assignment only once, in one round.
