About the course

A 5-year (300 ECTS) Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree taught in English on the Nicosia campus. EUC says the competency-based curriculum follows the European System of Evaluation of Veterinary Training (ESEVT) requirements and aims to give graduates the ‘Day One Competencies’ needed for entry-level practice.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The university assesses the Irish Leaving Certificate individually and does not publish a fixed Irish requirement. Contact admissions to confirm.
  • EUC’s published requirement for Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine is an average grade of 90% (18/20) or its equivalent, with Biology plus one of Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics. You also need an academic reference from a teacher or lecturer and a personal statement in English. No entrance exam is listed; EUC reserves the right to hold interviews for Veterinary Medicine.
  • English: IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL iBT 79, PTE Academic 66 or another listed qualification (for example Cambridge exams or IB English). Only British, Canadian, Australian, US and New Zealand nationals are listed as exempt, so Irish applicants should check with admissions whether Leaving Certificate English is accepted.

Working in Ireland afterwards

Veterinary degrees from EU member states listed in Annex V (point 5.4.2) of Directive 2005/36/EC are recognised qualifications you can register with at the Veterinary Council of Ireland, which in effect means automatic recognition. You still need to apply to the VCI to register before you can practise. Check the VCI’s list of recognised qualifications to confirm your specific degree is on it.

How to apply

  1. Check your subjectsMake sure you are taking Biology plus Chemistry, Maths or Physics, and ask EUC admissions how your predicted Leaving Certificate grades compare with its 90% average rule and whether Leaving Certificate English meets its English requirement.
  2. Apply onlineComplete the EUC online application form (Veterinary Medicine) and pay the 200 euro non-refundable fee. Upload your results or predicted grades, a teacher reference, a personal statement in English and proof of English.
  3. Interview if invitedEUC reserves the right to interview Veterinary Medicine applicants. No dates or format are published, so watch your email after you apply.
  4. Accept and pay depositIf you receive an offer, accept it within one week and pay the down payment against tuition (confirm the amount with admissions). Then arrange accommodation in Nicosia for the October intake.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: EUC does not publish an application deadline, exam or interview dates for Veterinary Medicine. The programme page lists the next intake as October 2026, and 2027 dates were not yet online (September 2026). Apply early and confirm the closing date with admissions. If you get an offer, you must accept it within one week..

Costs

  • EUC does not show the Veterinary Medicine tuition fee on its web pages. Fees are only in downloadable PDF lists (separate lists for international, Cypriot and Greek students), which we could not open, so we cannot confirm the amount or which list applies to Irish/EU students. Ask admissions for the 2027/28 EU fee. Known one-off cost: a non-refundable application fee of 200 euro for Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine. If you are offered a place you must accept within one week, and this requires a down payment against tuition. The medical admissions page does not give the amount (the general undergraduate page gives 1,100 euro for EU students on on-campus programmes, but confirm whether this applies to Veterinary Medicine).
