About the course

A four-year, 240 ECTS general adult nursing degree with a separate English Academic Path, split equally between theory (2,300 hours) and clinical practice (2,300 hours). The university states that graduates achieve professional registration as a General Adult Nurse.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The university assesses the Irish Leaving Certificate individually and does not publish a fixed Irish requirement. Contact admissions to confirm. The general minimum is a recognised High School Leaving Certificate; students scoring below 7.5/10 (or equivalent) get extra academic guidance and monitoring in first year.
  • No entrance exam or interview is listed for this programme.
  • English: IELTS 6 or above, TOEFL iBT 72 or above, or an accepted equivalent. Applicants with IELTS 4.5 or above who fall short must sit UNIC’s English Placement Test and may receive language support.

Working in Ireland afterwards

NMBI recognises EU/EEA nursing qualifications in a separate step before registration, and places each applicant in one of three groups. G1 is the EU automatic recognition pathway (Directive 2005/36/EC, Annex V), where NMBI only checks your paperwork. G2 is the general system, where NMBI also assesses your qualification, and you may have to complete a compensation measure. G3 covers qualifications outside the Directive. Under EU law, automatic recognition normally applies to general care (adult) nursing degrees listed in Annex V. Specialist qualifications such as psychiatric, children’s or intellectual disability nursing usually go through the general system, but NMBI does not publish a list. Its MyNMBI tool tells you which group you are in. English-language requirements also apply.

Costs

  • UNIC’s official Cyprus/EU fee schedule for 2026/27 lists the Nursing BSc (English, 240 ECTS) at 10,800 euro a year (60 ECTS). EU students pay tuition at this private university. There is also a one-off application fee of 60 euro, plus per-semester fees of 30 euro (registration), 20 euro (student activities) and 15 euro (technology). The 2027/28 fee has not yet been published.
NMBI recognises EU nursing qualifications before registration; general care (adult) nursing degrees listed in Annex V of Directive 2005/36/EC normally use the G1 automatic pathway, and NMBI’s MyNMBI tool confirms your group, with English-language requirements also applying. Non-Greek-speaking students must complete two compulsory Greek language courses in first year to continue on the programme.
