About the course

This five-year, 300 ECTS integrated Master of Pharmacy is offered in separate English and Greek streams on UNIC’s Nicosia campus. It ends with a 30 ECTS pre-registration practice semester and gives graduates the professional rights of a pharmacist under Directive 2005/36/EC.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The university assesses the Irish Leaving Certificate individually and does not publish a fixed Irish requirement. Contact admissions to confirm.
  • The published standard is a school-leaving certificate with 17/20 in Chemistry and Biology, or A Levels in Chemistry and Biology at grade B or higher. Applicants with 15/20 or more may be admitted after an assessment of knowledge, and those with 13 to 15/20 after a foundation semester (four courses passed at 75% or more). An interview is mandatory.
  • UNIC’s general undergraduate English requirement is IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 72. The published exemptions do not mention Irish school leavers, so confirm with admissions whether you need a test.

Working in Ireland afterwards

A pharmacy degree from an EU/EEA member state that fully meets the Directive 2005/36/EC minimum training requirements (Article 44) can be recognised automatically. If you started your studies before the Directive’s reference date, you also need 3 consecutive years of professional experience within the last 5 years. Recognition is step one and PSI registration is step two: recognition alone does not let you practise, and you must also prove competence in English. EU law allows countries to limit EU-qualified pharmacists from running newly opened pharmacies, and we could not confirm on the PSI website whether Ireland does this. If you plan to be the supervising or superintendent pharmacist in a pharmacy, check with the PSI.

How to apply

  1. Contact admissionsAsk UNIC to confirm the 2027 deadline, whether you need an English test and how your Leaving Certificate grades compare with the 17/20 standard.
  2. Apply onlineApply through UNIC’s online application portal (60 euro fee) and choose the English stream. Aim to apply well before the late June Fall deadline.
  3. Interview and any assessmentAttend the mandatory admissions interview. Depending on your grades, you may also have to sit a Chemistry and Biology assessment or take a foundation semester.
  4. Accept offerAccept your offer, pay the 500 euro seat reservation deposit (non-refundable) and arrange accommodation in Nicosia before the September start.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: UNIC’s general admissions page says applications for the Fall (September) semester should arrive by late June, and it tells EU applicants to contact the admissions office for exact deadlines. The programme also has a Spring intake. No 2027 date is published, so confirm with admissions..

Costs

  • UNIC’s 2026/27 fee list for Cypriot and other EU students gives Pharmacy tuition of 10,800 euro a year for each of the 5 years (the same rate is listed for the English and Greek streams). There is a one-off application fee of 60 euro and small per-semester charges (registration 30 euro, student activities 20 euro, technology 15 euro). New English-stream students pay a 500 euro seat reservation deposit, which is not refunded if you decide not to join. A 60 euro graduation application fee is charged at the end.
A pharmacy degree from an EU country that meets the minimum training rules in Directive 2005/36/EC can be recognised automatically, but you must then register with the PSI and prove your English; if you plan to be a supervising or superintendent pharmacist, check with the PSI. The course is also taught in Greek, so make sure you apply for the English stream.
