About the course

A five-year, full-time long-cycle Master’s in Pharmacy taught in English at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Brno. More than half of the classes are practical, and the programme includes a compulsory six-month pharmacy internship, which can be done in the Czech Republic or abroad.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The university assesses the Irish Leaving Certificate individually and does not publish a fixed Irish requirement. Contact admissions to confirm.
  • All applicants must pass an online entrance exam: a written test in Biology and Chemistry, with 40 Biology questions and 40 Chemistry questions at secondary school level. Sample questions are published by the faculty. The pass mark and any exemptions were not confirmed on the pages checked.
  • The university expects proof of English-language skills, but the specific certificate and level for Pharmacy were not confirmed on the pages checked. Contact admission@pharm.muni.cz to confirm.

Working in Ireland afterwards

A pharmacy degree from an EU/EEA member state that fully meets the Directive 2005/36/EC minimum training requirements (Article 44) can be recognised automatically. If you started your studies before the Directive’s reference date, you also need 3 consecutive years of professional experience within the last 5 years. Recognition is step one and PSI registration is step two: recognition alone does not let you practise, and you must also prove competence in English. EU law allows countries to limit EU-qualified pharmacists from running newly opened pharmacies, and we could not confirm on the PSI website whether Ireland does this. If you plan to be the supervising or superintendent pharmacist in a pharmacy, check with the PSI.

How to apply

  1. Apply onlineSubmit the Masaryk University e-application during the Faculty of Pharmacy window (expected 1 December 2026 to 31 July 2027 for EU residents) and pay any application fee shown.
  2. Take the entrance examChoose an exam date and sit the online Biology and Chemistry test (40 questions each). Practise with the faculty’s sample questions.
  3. Send documentsProvide proof of your English skills and proof that you completed secondary school, including any recognition of your Leaving Certificate the university asks for.
  4. EnrolIf accepted, pay the tuition as instructed (EUR 7,500 per year) and enrol for the September start in Brno.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: The university publishes the Faculty of Pharmacy application period as 1 December to 31 July for EU residents (1 December to 31 May for non-EU residents). The programme page currently shows the 2026 cycle (1 Dec 2025 to 31 Jul 2026), so 1 December 2026 to 31 July 2027 is expected for 2027 entry but should be confirmed. Entrance exam dates for 2027 entry were not confirmed; applicants choose an exam date and receive access details by email a few days beforehand..

Costs

  • EUR 7,500 per academic year, as listed on the Masaryk University programme page. The page does not say which academic year this fee applies to. Masaryk University charges tuition for English-taught programmes; only programmes taught in Czech are tuition-free, so EU students pay this fee too. Application fee and instalment rules could not be confirmed on the pages checked, so check the e-application and the faculty’s admissions page.
A pharmacy degree from an EU/EEA member state that fully meets the Directive 2005/36/EC minimum training requirements (Article 44) can be recognised automatically; after recognition you must still register with the PSI and prove competence in English. EU law allows countries to limit EU-qualified pharmacists from running newly opened pharmacies, and we could not confirm whether Ireland does this, so check with the PSI if you plan to be a supervising or superintendent pharmacist.
