About the course

A three-year, full-time programme (180 ECTS) taught in English in Prague. It covers international relations, economics, international law and organisations, and a European specialisation that includes European integration, EU law and EU policies.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • MUP publishes nothing specific on the Leaving Certificate. You need to send a certified (notarised) copy of your school-leaving certificate. Under Czech law, students with foreign secondary education must also get it officially recognised (nostrification) by the regional authority before enrolment. In Prague this is the City Hall (Magistrát hlavního města Prahy). You will need an apostilled copy, a transcript if asked for, and a sworn Czech translation. It costs CZK 1,000 and usually takes 1 to 3 months. MUP does not publish minimum grades or subject requirements, so confirm with admissions how your Leaving Cert results are assessed.
  • Entrance exam: an online English-language test. Sample tests are on MUP’s website.
  • English: you can skip the test by sending a certificate no more than two years old (TOEFL, IELTS, FCE, CAE or CPE) or proof that your secondary education was completed in English. Check with MUP that Irish English-medium schooling counts.

How to apply

  1. Apply onlineFill in the online application on MUP’s admissions system and pay the EUR 32 (CZK 750) application fee. The 2026/27 deadline was 30 September 2026; check the 2027 date.
  2. Take the English test or send a certificateDo MUP’s online English entrance test, or send a certified IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge certificate, or proof of English-medium secondary education.
  3. Send your documents and start nostrificationPost a certified copy of your Leaving Certificate to MUP. Get an apostille early, arrange a sworn Czech translation and apply to the Prague regional authority for nostrification, which takes 1 to 3 months.
  4. Sign the contract, pay and enrolOnce admitted, sign the study contract, pay the tuition (EUR 3,542 a year in full, or two instalments of EUR 1,834) and enrol with your nostrification certificate.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: For 2026/27 entry, MUP took bachelor’s applications until 30 September 2026. The 2027/28 deadline had not been published when we checked. Expect a similar late deadline, which suits Leaving Cert results in August, but confirm on the admissions page. The online English test is taken during the admission process..

Costs

  • MUP lists tuition for English-taught bachelor programmes at EUR 3,542 (CZK 85,000) a year if paid in full, or two instalments of EUR 1,834 (CZK 44,000), which comes to EUR 3,668. The fees page does not distinguish EU from non-EU students and does not state the academic year. The application fee is EUR 32 (CZK 750). Czech recognition of your Leaving Cert (nostrification) costs about CZK 1,000 extra, plus the cost of an apostille and a sworn Czech translation.
MUP is a private university, so everyone pays tuition, and you must get your Leaving Cert officially recognised (nostrification) by a Czech regional authority before enrolment. Start the apostille and sworn translation as soon as your results arrive.

Checked against the official Metropolitan University Prague website: September 2026 (2027 entry). The deadline is from the 2026/27 cycle and the fees page does not say which year it covers, so confirm both for 2027 entry. Always confirm details with the university before applying.
