About the course

This bachelor’s programme is taught in English. It covers microeconomics, macroeconomics, mathematics, computer science and statistics, and then moves into business economics, management, marketing, accounting and taxes, production control, finance and banking.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The faculty needs only completed secondary education and sets no specific subjects or grades. There is no national rule for the Leaving Certificate. Tomas Bata University assesses foreign school-leaving certificates itself, for a fee of CZK 990 (EUR 39), and the result counts only at this university. Your documents must be verified as required for the country that issued them, which usually means an apostille for Irish documents. Ask admissions@utb.cz exactly what they need for the Leaving Cert.
  • As part of the admissions process you must submit an essay in English of about 2,500 to 3,000 words, on a topic chosen from the faculty’s list. The full admission conditions are set out in the Dean’s Directive linked from the e-application.
  • English at B2 level is required. The university accepts a letter from your previous school confirming you were taught through English instead of a certificate. An Irish secondary school can usually provide this, but confirm it with admissions.

How to apply

  1. Get documents ready (autumn 2026)Arrange certified copies of your Leaving Cert documents, with an apostille, and a letter from your school confirming you were taught through English. Apply for the university’s assessment of your foreign education (CZK 990).
  2. Apply online (from Oct/Nov 2026)Apply through the TBU e-application, choose Economics and Management (Bachelor’s, English) and pay the CZK 740 application fee.
  3. Submit the essay before the deadlineWrite the English essay of 2,500 to 3,000 words on a topic from the faculty’s list. Upload it with your other documents by the deadline, which was 30 April in 2026.
  4. Send results and enrol (Aug to Sep 2027)Leaving Cert results arrive in late August, so ask the faculty when you must send them. After you enrol, pay the CZK 54,000 tuition fee within 30 days.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: For 2026/27 entry, applications opened in November 2025 and closed on 30 April 2026. The admissions committee meets throughout the application period, usually at the end of each month. The university says applications for 2027/28 open in October or November 2026. The 2027 deadline has not been published yet, but expect a date around the end of April 2027..

Costs

  • Tuition is CZK 54,000 a year (the university gives this as about EUR 2,100), due within 30 days of enrolment. The faculty does not publish a separate EU rate. The application fee is CZK 740 (about EUR 29). Having your Irish school-leaving qualification assessed by the university costs CZK 990 (about EUR 39). These are the 2026/27 figures, so check the 2027/28 amounts.
The deadline in the 2026 cycle was 30 April, months before Leaving Cert results come out. Apply early and ask the faculty how and when to send your final results.
