About the course

A three-year, 180-credit degree taught in English on selecting, developing, integrating and operating secure and dependable computing and communication technologies, preparing graduates for roles such as systems, network or security engineer. It follows the university’s CHOICE-CORE-CAREER model, with a mandatory internship and a study-abroad window in the fifth semester.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Under German recognition rules (KMK/ZAB), the Leaving Cert gives direct university entry only with the right subjects: six subjects, at least two at Higher Level H5 or better, the rest at O6/H6 or better, including two languages and Maths at O5/H6 or better. For computing/engineering/science you also need Higher Level Maths at H5 and a Higher Level science at H5. Constructor publishes no Leaving Cert-specific rule, but says SAT/ACT scores may be required for enrolment if you lack a German university entrance qualification, so confirm with admissions how your Leaving Cert is assessed.
  • Applications are reviewed on school transcripts, CV and a motivation statement; SAT/ACT and a recommendation letter are optional for admission. No entrance test or interview is listed.
  • English: native speakers and applicants taught exclusively in English for at least 6 years are exempt, which normally covers Irish school-leavers. Otherwise IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 90 or Duolingo 110 (among others) are accepted.

How to apply

  1. Check your subjectsMake sure your Leaving Cert plan includes Higher Level Maths and a Higher Level science, aiming for H5 or better in each, to meet German entry rules for STEM.
  2. Apply earlySubmit on the Constructor University portal between 1 October 2026 and 1 February 2027 for Early Action, or by 15 July 2027 at the latest.
  3. Upload documentsPassport, school transcripts, CV, motivation statement and English evidence (or exemption); SAT/ACT and a reference are optional for admission.
  4. Check your scholarship and costsDecisions arrive in 2 to 4 weeks; compare the net cost after any merit scholarship, including housing and meals, before accepting.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Early Action: 1 October 2026 to 1 February 2027. Rolling admissions: 2 February to 15 July 2027. Decisions usually come 2 to 4 weeks after you apply. Orientation week is in the last week of August 2027 and classes start in the first week of September..

Costs

  • Tuition for 2027/28 is EUR 11,925 per semester (EUR 23,850 a year), up from EUR 10,000 per semester in 2026/27. First-time EU students also pay a one-off enrolment fee of EUR 640, and university fees plus the semester ticket add up to about EUR 350 per semester. Housing (a shared room was EUR 1,890 per semester in 2026/27) and a meal plan (EUR 2,500 per semester in 2026/27) are extra. All applicants are automatically considered for a merit scholarship based on school grades of up to EUR 10,000, and a tuition deferral programme lets you repay after graduation based on income.
This is a private university charging EUR 23,850 a year in tuition for 2027/28, unlike Germany’s tuition-free public universities, so the scholarship you are offered matters a lot. Take Higher Level Maths and a Higher Level science to satisfy German entry rules for STEM.
