About the course

A three-year, full-time, English-taught degree on the Bremen campus that combines Earth sciences with sustainability and the management of environmental resources.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Constructor University does not publish a specific Irish rule. Under German recognition rules (KMK/ZAB), the Leaving Certificate gives direct university entry only with the right subject/level mix: six subjects, two at Higher Level H5 or better, the other four at O6/H6 or better, including two languages and Maths at O5/H6 or better. For a science course like this you also need Higher Level Maths at H5 and a Higher Level science at H5. Confirm with admissions.
  • The SAT and ACT are not needed to apply. But the university says that if you are admitted and your school qualification does not give direct entry to a German university, you may need to sit a standardised test before enrolling. You apply with ID, transcripts, CV, proof of English, a motivation statement and a recommendation letter.
  • English: you are exempt if you are a native English speaker or were taught entirely in English for at least six years, so Irish-schooled students should normally qualify. Otherwise IELTS 6.5 or Duolingo 110 is accepted, and TOEFL iBT minimums are in the university’s table. Confirm with admissions that your Irish schooling counts for the exemption.

How to apply

  1. Check your Leaving Cert subjectsMake sure you are taking Higher Level Maths and a Higher Level science and can reach H5 in both, plus two languages, to meet German direct-entry rules.
  2. Apply by 1 February 2027Apply on the Constructor University portal between 1 October 2026 and 1 February 2027 for Early Action. Rolling admissions then run until 15 July 2027. Upload your ID, transcripts, CV, motivation statement and a recommendation letter.
  3. Compare your offer and fundingCheck the scholarship or financial aid you are offered and work out the tuition you will actually pay, plus housing and meal-plan costs.
  4. Enrol and arriveAccept your place, pay the EUR 640 enrolment fee for EU students and send your final Leaving Cert results in August. Orientation is in the last week of August 2027 and classes start in the first week of September.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Early Action: 1 October 2026 to 1 February 2027. Rolling admissions: 2 February 2027 to 15 July 2027. Orientation week is the last week of August and classes start in the first week of September 2027..

Costs

  • The programme page lists tuition of EUR 11,925 per semester (about EUR 23,850 a year), plus a one-off enrolment fee of EUR 640 for EU students. The page does not say which academic year this covers. The university’s 2026/27 bachelor cost sheet gives EUR 10,000 per semester (EUR 20,000 a year), so the programme-page figure may be the newer rate; confirm with admissions. Other costs per semester on the 2026/27 cost sheet: university fee EUR 95, broadcasting fee EUR 28, shared room EUR 1,890 and meal plan EUR 2,500, plus a refundable EUR 1,000 housing deposit and a semester transport ticket. Scholarships and financial aid can reduce tuition a lot. No application fee is mentioned.
This is a private university. Tuition is about EUR 20,000 to 24,000 a year before scholarships, whereas Germany’s public universities charge no tuition. For a science course, your Leaving Cert needs Higher Level Maths and a Higher Level science at H5, or you may have to sit a standardised test before enrolling.
