About the course

A 3-year (6-semester, 180 ECTS) business degree taught in English, with a compulsory semester abroad in semester 4 at one of about 200 partner universities. You choose a specialisation such as Finance & FinTech, Strategy & Consulting, Marketing & Sales or Business Analytics & AI. An extended 7-semester (210 ECTS) option is also available.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • EBS asks for a ‘general higher education entrance qualification’. Under German rules the Leaving Certificate only counts if you have six subjects: at least two at Higher Level H5 or better, the rest at H6/O6 or better, including two languages and Maths at O5/H6 or better. For business, German rules also require Higher Level Maths at H5. EBS publishes nothing specific to Ireland, so confirm with EBS admissions.
  • Selection: a 30-minute online knowledge test (maths and analytical skills), a personality test of about 20 minutes and a 30-minute personal interview. A decision follows within a week of the interview. SAT, ACT or Gaokao results can replace the EBS tests.
  • English: EBS accepts IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge, Pearson or Duolingo certificates. In justified exceptional cases (for example native speakers, or those schooled entirely in English) it may admit without a certificate. Irish applicants should ask admissions whether they need one.

How to apply

  1. Check your subjectsMake sure your Leaving Cert subjects meet German entry rules, including Higher Level Maths at H5 for business.
  2. Apply onlineComplete the EBS online application with your CV and current school results, ideally well before the recommended date of 30 June 2027.
  3. Tests and interviewSit the online knowledge and personality tests (or submit SAT/ACT results) and do the 30-minute interview.
  4. Sign the study contractIf you are offered a place, sign the study contract. Enrol by 28 February to get the €500 early enrolment reduction.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: EBS has no formal application deadline and admits on a rolling basis. It recommends applying before 30 June for the autumn term and before 30 November for the spring term. Applicants who need a visa should apply by 30 May (autumn) or 15 October (spring). Irish/EU students do not need a visa. The programme page lists a spring 2027 start of 18 January 2027 and an autumn start of 23 August 2027. Confirm the autumn 2027 date with EBS..

Costs

  • EBS is a private university. Tuition is €8,750 per semester (€17,500 a year). EBS gives the full 6-semester cost as €54,480, all fees included. You get €500 off tuition if you enrol by 28 February for the autumn intake (31 July for spring). The programme page mentions no application fee. The optional 7-semester version costs more.
This is a private university costing about €54,480 over three years, unlike Germany’s tuition-free public universities. The campus is in a small town on the Rhine, so budget for accommodation too.
