About the course

A four-year (8-semester, 240 ECTS) business degree taught entirely in English, focused on management in the Baltic Sea region. It includes a compulsory semester abroad (study or internship), a 21-week practical semester in semester 7, Business English and a Baltic Sea region language (Norwegian, Polish or Swedish); international students also take German as a foreign language.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Germany’s recognition rules (KMK/ZAB) accept the Leaving Certificate for direct university entry only if you have the right subjects and levels. You need six general subjects, including two languages and Maths at O5/H6 or better. At least two subjects must be Higher Level at H5 or better, and the other four need O6/H6 or better. Hochschule Stralsund does not publish its own Irish rules, so confirm with admissions or uni-assist.
  • This is a business course, so German rules also require Higher Level Maths at H5 or better. Ordinary Level Maths will not be enough. The course is currently listed as having unrestricted entry, so there is no grade-based cap.
  • The programme page says the course is taught completely in English but does not state an English test or level. Ask admissions whether your Leaving Cert English is accepted as proof of English before you apply.

How to apply

  1. Check your subjectsMake sure your Leaving Cert will meet the German rules for business: six subjects including two languages, at least two Higher Level subjects at H5 or better, and Higher Level Maths at H5 or better.
  2. Apply through uni-assistApplications open in early October 2026. Upload your Leaving Cert documents to uni-assist and pay the handling fee. EU applicants must apply by 28 February 2027.
  3. Accept and enrolOnce Hochschule Stralsund offers you a place, accept it, pay the semester contribution and enrol before the winter semester begins.
  4. Plan housing and arrivalLook into student accommodation in Stralsund early, then arrive for the start of the winter semester in autumn 2027.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Applicants with school-leaving certificates from outside Germany apply through uni-assist, with applications opening in early October. The published deadline for EU applicants (including Irish students) is 28 February 2027; for non-EU applicants it is 30 November 2026. The course starts in the winter semester (autumn 2027)..

Costs

  • No tuition fees at this public university of applied sciences. You pay only a semester contribution each semester (in Germany this is usually about €150–400 per semester). We could not confirm Hochschule Stralsund’s exact amount, so check it with the university before you budget. uni-assist also charges a handling fee for checking your Leaving Cert.
There is no tuition fee, only a semester contribution. The EU deadline (28 February 2027) is much earlier than the usual German date of 15 July, and German rules for business require Higher Level Maths at H5 or better.
