About the course

A business management degree focused on tourism, where you choose to specialise in the cruise market or in innovation. It is taught entirely in English over 8 semesters (240 ECTS). You spend the fifth and sixth semesters working abroad, and you can include a semester of study abroad in that time. No internship is needed before you start.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Under German rules (KMK/ZAB, published on anabin), the Leaving Certificate gives direct university entry only with the right subjects and levels. You need six general subjects: at least two at Higher Level with H5 or better, and the other four at O6/H6 or better. The six must include two languages and Maths at O5/H6 or better. For business and economics courses like this one, you also need Higher Level Maths at H5. LCA and LCVP are not accepted. Hochschule Bremerhaven publishes nothing specific to Ireland, so confirm your subject combination with admissions.
  • The programme is admission-free. If you meet the entry requirements, you are not ranked on grades, and there is no entrance test, interview or portfolio.
  • The whole course is taught in English. The official pages do not say what English certificate or level is needed, or whether Leaving Cert English is accepted as proof, so ask admissions to confirm.

How to apply

  1. Check your Leaving Cert subjectsMake sure your six subjects meet the German rules, including Higher Level Maths at H5 or better, which business courses require.
  2. Confirm the deadline and English proofContact the student advisory service (studienberatung@hs-bremerhaven.de) early in 2027, or attend Campus Day on 27 January 2027. Ask for the 2027 deadline and what English evidence is accepted.
  3. Apply on ecampus for winter semester 2027Apply through the university’s ecampus portal before the deadline (15 August in 2026) and include your Leaving Cert results and English evidence.
  4. Enrol and pay the semester contributionOnce you are admitted, enrol, pay the semester contribution (€344 on the current fee sheet) and arrange accommodation in Bremerhaven before the autumn start.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: The programme starts in the winter semester only (autumn). For winter 2026/27, the university’s bachelor application page gave 15 August as the ecampus deadline for all programmes apart from three restricted ones. Admission-free programmes like this one also had a later deadline of 18 September 2026, with enrolment by 30 September. The 2027/28 dates have not been published yet. Expect a similar mid-August deadline in 2027, but confirm it on the ‘Application for bachelor courses’ page or with the student advisory service (studienberatung@hs-bremerhaven.de, +49 471 4823 556)..

Costs

  • Hochschule Bremerhaven is a public university of applied sciences, so EU students pay no tuition. You do pay a semester contribution each semester. The university’s current fee sheet gives €344 per semester: €85 for student services, €18.78 for the student council, €190.22 for the semester transport ticket and a €50 administration fee. That is about €688 a year. The fee drops to €153.78 in semesters you spend abroad or on an internship. The sheet does not say which semester these amounts apply to, so check the 2027/28 figure before you budget.
There is no tuition, only a semester contribution of about €344, and the course is admission-free. You still need Higher Level Maths at H5 to qualify for a German business degree. The course takes 4 years, including a year working abroad.
