About the course

A three-year (six-semester), 180-ECTS bachelor’s in international management, taught in English at the Caprivi Campus in Osnabrück. You can start in the winter or summer semester. Students take a second foreign language (German for international students, or French, Spanish, Russian or Chinese) and spend a compulsory semester abroad in semester 4 or 5 at one of more than 100 partner universities. The programme has EFMD programme accreditation, which the university says only four bachelor’s programmes in Germany hold.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Germany’s recognition rules (KMK/ZAB) give Leaving Certificate holders direct entry only with the right subject combination: six subjects including two languages and Maths (at least O5/H6), with at least two Higher Level subjects at H5 or better and the rest at O6/H6 or better. For business courses you also need Higher Level Maths at H5 or better. Confirm with admissions or uni-assist.
  • Admission is restricted to 35 places per semester, so applicants are ranked. Your Leaving Cert is converted to a German grade for this.
  • English at B2 or above is required. The programme page asks for an internationally recognised certificate no more than 3 years old. It is not confirmed that Irish native speakers are exempt, so ask admissions whether your Leaving Cert English is accepted instead.
  • International applicants need basic German at A1 or above (A2 recommended). Ask admissions whether this applies to Irish/EU applicants and which certificates they accept.

How to apply

  1. Check your Leaving Cert subjectsMake sure you meet the German rules for business: six subjects, two languages, Higher Level Maths at H5 or better, and at least two Higher Level subjects at H5 or better.
  2. Sort out language proofGet an English certificate at B2 or above (or confirm an exemption with admissions) and German at A1 or above if it applies to you.
  3. Apply through uni-assistApply via uni-assist between 1 March and 15 June for a winter start, or between 1 September and 15 December for a summer start. Confirm the 2027 dates.
  4. Accept and enrolIf you get an offer, accept it through the Hochschule Osnabrück portal, pay the semester contribution (€443 in 2026/27) and arrange accommodation in Osnabrück.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: If your school-leaving qualification is not German (the Leaving Cert, for example), you apply through uni-assist. For restricted-admission bachelor’s programmes like this one, the university’s current published windows are 1 March to 15 June for the winter semester and 1 September to 15 December for the summer semester. The later deadlines (15 July for winter, 15 January for summer) apply only to applicants with German qualifications. Expect the same pattern for 2027 entry (1 Mar to 15 Jun 2027 for winter 2027/28), but check the dates once the university publishes them..

Costs

  • Hochschule Osnabrück is a public university of applied sciences and charges EU students no tuition fees, only a semester contribution. For winter 2026/27 this is €443 per semester, about €886 a year. It is made up of a €75 administration fee, €135 for student services, €9 for the student union (AStA) and €224 for the Deutschlandsemesterticket. The programme’s facts page still says ‘approx. €350’, which is out of date. The amount for 2027/28 may change. uni-assist also charges a processing fee; check uni-assist for the current amount.
There is no tuition fee, only a semester contribution. There are just 35 places per intake, and the Leaving Cert route goes through uni-assist with a 15 June deadline, a month earlier than German applicants. You need Higher Level Maths at H5 or better, English at B2 and basic German (A1).
