About the course

An interdisciplinary, English-taught programme combining business administration with German and international tax law, accounting, corporate taxation and transfer pricing, followed by specialisation in international tax planning and European tax law. The sixth semester is an internship in a company or tax firm or a semester abroad, and the seventh is the bachelor’s thesis.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Germany accepts the Leaving Certificate for direct university entry only with the right subject and level combination: six subjects, at least two at Higher Level at H5 or better, the other four at O6/H6 or better, including two languages and Maths at O5/H6 or better. LCA and LCVP are not accepted. The university publishes nothing Ireland-specific, so confirm with admissions.
  • As a business/tax programme it may fall in the business and economics subject area, which under German rules needs Higher Level Maths at H5. Take Higher Level Maths and confirm with uni-assist. Admission is open (no numerus clausus), so grades are not used to rank eligible applicants.
  • English at B2 level is required. The university’s list of accepted English proofs includes a secondary school diploma from Ireland, so the Leaving Certificate should cover this.

How to apply

  1. Check your subjectsMake sure your Leaving Cert meets the German rules, ideally with Higher Level Maths at H5 or better.
  2. Plan your pre-study placementA placement of at least 8 weeks is required; proof must be submitted no later than re-enrolment for the 4th semester.
  3. Apply via uni-assistSubmit your application and documents through uni-assist once the application period opens, aiming for 15 July 2027 at the latest.
  4. Enrol and payAccept your admission, pay the semester contribution (€365.10 in winter 2026/27) and enrol for the winter semester, which begins on 1 September.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Bachelor programmes start in the winter semester only (semester begins 1 September). The university’s semester dates page gave 15 July as the winter 2026/27 first-semester deadline for open-admission bachelor programmes, while this programme’s own page states 14 August; use the earlier date to be safe. The 2027/28 deadline is not yet published. Applicants with a school certificate from outside Germany apply through uni-assist, which can take several weeks to process, so apply well before the deadline..

Costs

  • No tuition fees. You pay a semester contribution of €365.10 for winter 2026/27 (about €730 a year if the summer amount is the same), which includes a Deutschlandticket for travel across Germany. uni-assist charges its own application processing fee.
There are no tuition fees and no cap on places, but you still need the German Leaving Cert subject/level combination, and Higher Level Maths is the safe choice. The course covers German tax law as well as international tax, and German helps for part-time work and internships.
