About the course

A practice-oriented business degree taught entirely in English. It covers business administration and international management, includes 20 weeks of compulsory internships, workshops and company excursions, and has an integrated semester abroad at one of around 190 partner universities. An optional Global Track adds a second semester abroad (7 semesters in total).

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • ISM asks for a school-leaving qualification that lets you study at university in Germany, and its study advisers check foreign certificates in a ‘fast check’ before you apply. Under German rules (KMK/anabin), the Leaving Certificate gives direct entry only with six general subjects: at least two at Higher Level with H5 or better, the other four at O6/H6 or better, including two languages and Maths at O5/H6 or better. LCA and LCVP are not accepted. ISM publishes nothing specific to Ireland, so confirm with admissions.
  • For business and economics courses, German rules also require Higher Level Maths at H5 or better. ISM has no minimum grade (numerus clausus) or GMAT requirement, but you must pass an online entrance test in Maths and English and then do an online interview.
  • No IELTS or TOEFL score is listed for the Bachelor programmes; your English is assessed in ISM’s own online entrance test.

How to apply

  1. Fast checkSend your documents, including your Leaving Cert results or predicted results, to an ISM study adviser at your chosen campus. They will confirm that your certificate qualifies you to study in Germany.
  2. Register for the admission testOnce the fast check is successful, register online for the admission procedure. You will need your CV, a motivation letter, a copy of your passport and a photo.
  3. Maths and English test plus interviewTake the online entrance test in Maths and English, then have an online interview with ISM faculty.
  4. Sign the study contractSign by 15 March 2027 to get the 1,500 euro early bird discount for a September 2027 start. Otherwise EU students can usually still apply until late August. Budget for the 600 euro enrolment fee and for rent.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: ISM admits on a rolling basis. EU/EEA citizens can apply for the September (fall) intake until late August, and ISM strongly recommends applying early to secure a place. The 15 July (fall) and 15 December (spring) deadlines apply only to applicants who need a visa. There is also a March (spring) intake. To get the 1,500 euro early bird discount for September, you must sign the study contract by 15 March. No fixed dates for 2027 are published..

Costs

  • ISM is a private university. Tuition is 5,970 euro per semester (about 11,940 euro a year), the same for EU and non-EU students; monthly payments are possible on request. EU/EEA students also pay a one-off enrolment fee of 600 euro. There is no separate thesis fee. Signing your study contract by 15 March for a September start saves 1,500 euro (early bird discount). No application fee is mentioned. The fees page does not say which academic year the rate applies to, so confirm the 2027/28 figure with ISM.
ISM is a private university that charges fees (about 11,940 euro a year plus a 600 euro enrolment fee), unlike Germany’s tuition-free public universities. For the Leaving Cert to be recognised for business studies in Germany, you still need Higher Level Maths at H5 or better.
