About the course

A 6-semester, 180 ECTS management degree taught in English (with extra language courses available), with company projects, a practical semester and a semester abroad at a partner university built in. Students choose a profile: Sustainability Management; Intercultural, Diverse and Inclusive Management; International Marketing; or Logistics.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Karlshochschule asks for a university entrance qualification (the German Abitur or an equivalent) and publishes nothing specific on the Irish Leaving Certificate, so the general German (KMK) rules apply: six subjects, at least two at Higher Level with H5 or better, the others at H6/O6 or better, including two languages and Maths; for business courses Higher Level Maths at H5 or better is also expected. Confirm with admissions.
  • Selection is based on your written application (certificates, motivation letter of 1-2 pages in English, CV in English, evidence of internships or time abroad) followed by a personal interview, on campus or by video. The committee decides within days and holds an offered place for two weeks.
  • English at B2 must be proven with IELTS (5.5 overall), TOEFL (72), Trinity ISE III or a LanguageCert Academic certificate. The university lists no exemption for Leaving Cert English, so ask admissions whether it will be accepted.

How to apply

  1. Check your subjectsMake sure your Leaving Cert subjects meet the German rules, especially Higher Level Maths at H5 or better for a business degree.
  2. Sort out English proofBook IELTS, TOEFL, Trinity ISE III or LanguageCert, or ask admissions first whether Leaving Cert English is accepted.
  3. Apply onlineSubmit the online application with your results, a motivation letter in English and an English CV before 1 September (confirm the 2027 date).
  4. Interview and contractAttend the selection interview (on site or by video). If you get an offer, you have two weeks to sign the study contract and pay the EUR 500 enrolment fee. Classes start at the end of September.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: EU applicants: 1 September for the course starting at the end of September (the university says possibly later). Non-EU applicants: 15 July. The published deadline carries no year, so confirm the 2027 date with admissions..

Costs

  • Private, state-recognised university. EU students pay EUR 550 a month (EUR 6,600 a year); non-EU students pay EUR 750 a month. There is also a one-off enrolment fee of EUR 500, paid after signing the study contract, and a semester contribution to Studierendenwerk Karlsruhe (EUR 67.70 a semester as of 2024). The university puts the total for the 3-year degree at about EUR 20,700 for EU students. No application fee is listed. Confirm all figures for 2027 entry.
This is a private university: tuition is EUR 550 a month (about EUR 20,700 for the full degree), unlike Germany’s tuition-free public universities. You must also meet Germany’s Leaving Cert subject rules, including Higher Level Maths.
