About the course

A six-semester (180 ECTS) Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a specialisation in criminal psychology, taught in English on campus in Berlin or Munich. Alongside core psychology it includes specialisation modules such as Introduction to Criminal and Forensic Psychology, Applied Criminal Psychology, Counselling and Consulting in Criminal Psychology, and Psychology and Police.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Macromedia asks for a certified school-leaving certificate that qualifies you for university entry, and a foreign certificate must be verified as equivalent where necessary. Under German (KMK/anabin) rules the Leaving Cert gives direct entry only if you have six subjects, including at least two at Higher Level with H5 or better and the rest at O6/H6 or better. The six must include two languages and Maths at O5/H6 or better. Some subject areas ask for more, so ask Macromedia admissions which rule it applies to psychology.
  • There is no numerus clausus, and the admission page lists no entrance test or interview. You apply online with a certified school-leaving certificate, a CV, a motivation letter, a copy of your passport or ID and proof of English.
  • English: the admission page asks for proof of English, such as TOEFL iBT 72, IELTS 6.0 or the Burlington VTest. It does not mention any exemption for native speakers or for applicants schooled in English, so ask admissions whether they will accept Leaving Cert English before you book a test.

How to apply

  1. Check your subjectsMake sure your Leaving Cert meets the German rule: six subjects, two at Higher Level with H5 or better, and two languages plus Maths at O5/H6 or better.
  2. Sort English proofAsk admissions whether they accept Leaving Cert English. If not, take TOEFL iBT (72 or more), IELTS (6.0 or more) or the Burlington VTest.
  3. Apply onlineSend the online application with your CV, motivation letter, passport copy and Leaving Cert results or predicted grades. Aim for spring or early summer 2027.
  4. Accept and start in October 2027Sign the study contract, pay the €699 registration fee and arrange housing in Berlin or Munich before the October 2027 start.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Macromedia admits students on a rolling basis, with starts in April (summer semester) and October (winter semester). Its admission page gives 1 October as the winter deadline and 1 April as the summer deadline, and says these can be extended in exceptional cases. For the 2026 intake the programme page asked applicants to apply by 30 September to start in October. October 2027 and April 2027 are offered as start options. Separate 2027 deadlines have not been published, so apply well before the end of September 2027, especially if you need housing..

Costs

  • Private university. The official programme page and the winter 2026 international price list give €6,000 per semester (€12,000 a year, €36,000 in tuition over six semesters) plus a one-off registration fee of €699. The price list charges EU and non-EU students the same. The university says payment plans, scholarships and loans are available. The price list is dated January 2026 and says prices can change without notice, so confirm the fee for 2027 entry.
Macromedia is a private university that charges €6,000 a semester (2026 price list), unlike Germany’s public universities, which charge only a semester contribution. A psychology bachelor from abroad does not qualify you as a psychologist in Ireland on its own, so look at PSI-accredited postgraduate routes before committing.
