About the course

A six-semester, 180-ECTS B.Sc. taught in English in Heidelberg. It starts with foundations in computer science and maths, then moves to AI topics such as machine learning. Teaching is practical and project-based, in SRH’s block-based study model.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • SRH asks for a recognised university entrance qualification but publishes no specific rules for the Leaving Cert. Under German rules (KMK/ZAB), the Leaving Cert gives direct entry only with six subjects. Two must be at Higher Level with H5 or better, and the other four at O6/H6 or better. The six must include two languages and Maths at O5/H6 or better. For a maths/science-type course such as AI, German rules also ask for Higher Level Maths at H5 and a Higher Level science at H5. Confirm with SRH admissions how they will assess your subjects.
  • After your documents are checked, qualified applicants are invited to an admissions interview before an offer. You can apply before you finish school by uploading an interim certificate or school results, then send your final Leaving Cert results later.
  • English: the programme page asks for TOEFL 80, IELTS 6.5 or Duolingo 110, or proof that your previous lessons were taught in English. Ask SRH whether a letter from your Irish school confirming English-medium teaching, or your Leaving Cert English result, will be accepted instead of a test.

How to apply

  1. Check your subjectsMake sure your Leaving Cert subjects and levels meet the German rules for a STEM course. Ideally that means Higher Level Maths and a Higher Level science at H5 or better.
  2. Apply onlineCreate an account on the SRH application portal and apply for the programme. Upload your CV with a photo, ID, your school results or interim certificate, and proof of English. Admissions are rolling, so apply early in 2027.
  3. Admissions interviewIf your documents meet the requirements, SRH invites you to a personal interview to check that the course fits your goals. If you want a partial scholarship, apply by 15 July 2027.
  4. Contract and enrolmentAfter a successful interview, sign the study contract and pay the €750 registration fee. Send your final Leaving Cert results, receive your letter of admission and start with Welcome Week in October 2027.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: SRH says you can apply at any time, and the programme page gives no fixed deadline. The course starts in the winter semester only (1 October; an October 2027 start is listed). The deadline for a partial scholarship for the October intake is 15 July. Apply well before summer 2027 so there is time for the document check, interview, contract and enrolment..

Costs

  • SRH is a private, state-recognised university. EU/EEA students pay €790 a month in tuition (€9,480 a year, about €28,440 over six semesters), plus a one-off registration fee of €750. SRH offers partial scholarships covering up to 50% of first-year tuition. The deadline for the October intake is 15 July, and the tech scholarships ask for IELTS 6.5 or higher. Rent and living costs are extra.
This is a private university: tuition is €790 a month (about €9,480 a year) plus a €750 registration fee, unlike Germany’s tuition-free public universities. You also need to budget for rent in Heidelberg.
