About the course

An English-taught computer science degree covering programming and computing fundamentals through to areas such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing and databases, finishing with a bachelor thesis. It runs on the Berlin, Heidelberg and Leipzig campuses as a 3-year Fast Track or a 3.5-year International Experience Track that includes a 6-month internship or semester abroad.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • SRH asks for a higher education entrance qualification (Abitur or equivalent). Under German rules the Leaving Certificate gives direct entry only with six subjects, two at Higher Level H5 or better, the rest at O6/H6 or better, including two languages and Maths at O5/H6 or better. For computer science (the maths/science area) German rules also expect Higher Level Maths at H5 and a Higher Level science at H5. SRH publishes nothing specific to Ireland, so confirm with its admissions team before applying. LCA and LCVP are not accepted.
  • After your documents are checked you are invited to a personal admissions interview before you get a study contract.
  • Proof of English is required. SRH’s FAQ mentions TOEFL, IELTS or comparable certificates, and applicants without one can sit the SRH English Proficiency Certificate test. SRH does not say whether Leaving Cert English is accepted, so ask admissions.

How to apply

  1. Choose campus and trackPick Berlin, Heidelberg or Leipzig, and either the 3-year Fast Track or the 3.5-year International Experience Track. Fees differ by campus and track.
  2. Apply onlineCreate an account on the SRH application portal and upload your CV, ID or passport and school results. Admissions are rolling for April and October starts, so apply early in 2027 for October 2027 entry.
  3. Admissions interviewOnce your documents are checked you are invited to a personal interview. Sort out proof of English, or book the SRH English test if you need it.
  4. Sign contract and payAfter an offer, sign the study contract, pay the EUR 750 enrolment fee and then the monthly tuition, find accommodation, and attend Welcome Week before classes start.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: SRH has no fixed deadline: you can apply at any time through its online portal. The course starts on 1 April and 1 October each year. SRH recommends applying at least four months before the semester starts if you need a visa; Irish students do not, but applying early in 2027 for October 2027 entry leaves time for the interview and finding accommodation..

Costs

  • SRH is a private, state-recognised university and charges tuition monthly. For EU/EEA students the International Experience Track (7 semesters, 210 ECTS) costs EUR 790 a month in Berlin or Heidelberg (about EUR 9,480 a year) or EUR 690 a month in Leipzig (about EUR 8,280 a year). The Fast Track (6 semesters, 180 ECTS) costs EUR 840 a month in Berlin or Heidelberg (about EUR 10,080 a year) or EUR 750 a month in Leipzig (about EUR 9,000 a year). There is also a one-off enrolment fee of EUR 750. No application fee is mentioned on the official pages.
This is a private university: tuition is EUR 690 to EUR 840 a month plus a EUR 750 enrolment fee, unlike Germany’s tuition-free public universities. Take Higher Level Maths and a Higher Level science so you meet the German entry rules for computer science.
