About the course

A practical computing degree taught in English over 7 semesters (210 ECTS). It covers UX/UI and interaction design, web and mobile development, software engineering, databases, IoT, game development, AI and product management. The fifth semester is a mobility phase or internship. Teaching follows SRH’s CORE model, which runs in five-week blocks that each focus on one or two topics.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • SRH accepts a school-leaving certificate that gives access to university in your home country. It publishes nothing specific on the Irish Leaving Cert, so the German (KMK/ZAB) rules apply. The Leaving Cert gives direct university entry only with the right subjects and levels. You need six subjects, including two languages and Maths at O5/H6 or better. Two of the six must be Higher Level at H5 or better, and the other four at least O6/H6. If computing counts as maths and science, German rules also ask for Higher Level Maths at H5 and a Higher Level science at H5. SRH also offers direct entry through conditional enrolment, and a foundation year at SRH International College. Confirm with SRH admissions how your subjects will be assessed. LCA and LCVP are not accepted.
  • There is no entrance exam, but every applicant who meets the requirements has an admissions interview. You also need a CV and a copy of your passport or ID card.
  • English: SRH asks for an English certificate less than two years old. Accepted results: IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 87, Cambridge B2 First grade A or B (C1/C2 grade A to C), Duolingo 110, PTE Academic 59, TOEIC 785, Linguaskill 176 or Password Skills Plus 6.5. If you do not have one, you can take SRH’s own English Proficiency Certificate test. SRH publishes no exemption for native speakers, so ask admissions whether Leaving Cert English is enough.

How to apply

  1. Check your subjectsBefore you apply, check your Leaving Cert subjects and levels against the German rules, including Higher Level Maths and a Higher Level science at H5. Confirm with SRH admissions.
  2. Apply onlineApply through the SRH portal (apply.srh.de) with your results or interim grades, a CV, a copy of your passport and proof of English (or take the SRH English test). Applications are open all year.
  3. Admissions interviewIf you meet the requirements, SRH invites you to an interview. If it goes well, you get an acceptance letter and a study contract.
  4. Sign and enrolSign and upload the study contract, then pay the €750 enrolment fee to keep your place. SRH then sends your admission letter. Arrange accommodation in Berlin and arrive for Welcome Week before the 1 October start.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: SRH accepts applications all year through its online portal. The portal lists the deadlines for each intake. The course starts on 1 October. For 2027 entry, check the portal for the October 2027 intake and apply early. That leaves time for the interview, the study contract, the enrolment fee and finding somewhere to live in Berlin..

Costs

  • SRH University is a private, state-recognised university, so you pay tuition. EU/EEA students pay €790 a month (about €9,480 a year), and SRH says the fee stays the same for the whole programme. You also pay a one-off enrolment fee of €750. Over 42 months, tuition alone comes to about €33,180. Ask SRH about scholarships and discounts.
SRH is a private university that charges €790 a month (about €9,480 a year), unlike Germany’s tuition-free public universities. You also need to budget for Berlin rent on top of tuition.
