About the course

A 7-semester (210 ECTS) business degree in tourism management, with a focus on health and medical tourism. It is taught in English at the European Campus Rottal-Inn in Pfarrkirchen, Bavaria, and includes an 18-week internship in semester 5.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • TH Deggendorf asks for a German university entrance qualification or a recognised foreign equivalent. Under German rules the Leaving Cert gives direct entry only if you have six subjects: at least two at Higher Level with H5 or better, the other four at H6/O6 or better, two languages among them, and Maths at O5/H6 or better. Business and economics courses also need Higher Level Maths at H5. Check with the university’s admissions office how it classifies this programme.
  • Admission test (aptitude assessment): a 90-minute online test proctored through ProctorU. Your Leaving Cert grade (converted to 0-100 points) and your test score (0-100) count equally. A test score of 50 or less counts as a fail, and you need at least 101 points in total. You can retake once, the following year.
  • English at level B2 is required. The university publishes accepted proofs in a separate language-requirements document. Confirm with admissions that Leaving Cert English counts as proof.

How to apply

  1. Check your subjectsMake sure your Leaving Cert subjects and levels meet the German rules, including Higher Level Maths at H5 for a business subject, before you apply.
  2. Apply on PrimussRegister on the TH Deggendorf Primuss portal between 15 April and 15 July (2027 dates to be confirmed). Upload your Leaving Cert results or predicted results, ID, and proof of English, and register for the admission test.
  3. Sit the online testBook your ProctorU slot at least 72 hours in advance. You need a webcam, a fast internet connection, a Windows or Mac computer and government-issued photo ID. The test costs USD 26.
  4. Accept and enrolIf you score 101 points or more you get an offer. Enrol, pay the EUR 82 student union fee, and find accommodation in or near Pfarrkirchen before the winter semester starts.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Applications for the winter semester open on 15 April and close on 15 July each year. The admission test runs once a year, for winter entry. For 2027 entry expect 15 April to 15 July 2027, but confirm the exact dates on the programme page..

Costs

  • No tuition fees for EU/EEA students. You pay only the student union fee, listed by the university as EUR 82 per semester (about EUR 164 a year). The online admission test costs USD 26, paid by international credit card. The EUR 60 application fee and EUR 500 per-semester service fee apply only to non-EU/EEA applicants.
There is no tuition, only a small student union fee, but everyone must pass an online admission test and your Leaving Cert grade counts for half of the result. The campus is in a small Bavarian town, so budget for rent and expect German to be useful day to day.
