Robotics (B.Eng.)

About the course

A seven-semester degree combining computer science, electrical and mechanical engineering, taught in English (also offered in German), with an internship semester in semester 5. Students specialise in industrial, mobile, or humanoid and service robotics.

Entry requirements for Irish students

• Germany’s recognition rules (KMK/ZAB, anabin) give the Leaving Certificate direct university entry only with the right subject and level combination: six subjects, at least two at Higher Level H5 or better, the rest at O6/H6 or better, including two languages and Maths. For engineering you also need Higher Level Maths at H5 and a Higher Level science at H5. LCA and LCVP are not accepted. Confirm with THWS admissions.
• No admission restriction for EU applicants. The TestAS or SAT requirement applies only to non-EU applicants, so Irish students do not need it.
• English at B2 is required, but THWS says native speakers and holders of an English-language school-leaving qualification only need to document that, so the Irish Leaving Cert should cover it (confirm with THWS). German A2 must be shown by the end of your second semester.

How to apply

1. Check your subjectsYou need Higher Level Maths and a Higher Level science at H5 or better, plus the general six-subject rule.
2. Get a uni-assist VPDRequest a Bachelor VPD from uni-assist (€75) by early spring 2027, allowing at least 4 to 6 weeks.
3. Apply to THWSApply on the THWS portal between 1 April and 15 June 2027.
4. Enrol and startComplete enrolment by the end of September for the October start, and reach German A2 by the end of your second semester.

Costs

• No tuition fees. You pay only the student services fee of €117.70 per semester, about €235 a year (current published amount). A uni-assist VPD of your Leaving Cert costs €75 and is needed before you apply.
