About the course

A three-year, 180 ECTS degree taught entirely in English that combines business management with data science, including data-driven technologies such as AI and the Internet of Things. It includes real-world projects with companies and electives on digital transformation and family enterprise.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Germany’s recognition rules (KMK/ZAB on anabin) say the Leaving Certificate gives direct university entry only with the right subjects and levels: six subjects, at least two at Higher Level with H5 or better, the other four at O6/H6 or better, including two languages and Maths at O5/H6 or better. Business and economics courses also need Higher Level Maths at H5 or better. TUM publishes nothing specific to Ireland, so confirm with TUM Heilbronn admissions (admission_heilbronn@mgt.tum.de).
  • Admission is through TUM’s aptitude assessment for bachelor’s programmes, which is based mainly on your school grades. Some applicants may also be invited to a second stage. The detailed scoring for this programme was not confirmed, so check the programme’s aptitude assessment rules.
  • English: TUM lists Management and Data Science among the programmes where English is checked during the aptitude assessment, so you do not need to send an English certificate with your application. German is not required for the degree.

How to apply

  1. Check your subjectsMake sure your Leaving Cert will meet the German rules. Take Higher Level Maths and aim for H5 or better, and include a second Higher Level subject at H5 or better and two languages.
  2. Request a uni-assist VPDTUM says applicants whose school qualification is not from Germany need a preliminary documentation (VPD) from uni-assist. Upload your documents to uni-assist and pay its handling fee in good time, then upload the final VPD to TUMonline.
  3. Apply on TUMonline by 15 July 2027Submit your application on TUMonline between 15 May and 15 July 2027 (confirm the 2027 dates). A VPD on its own is not an application to TUM.
  4. Aptitude assessment and enrolmentYour grades are assessed and your English is checked as part of the assessment. If you get an offer, accept it, pay the semester fee and enrol before the October start. Look for accommodation in Heilbronn early.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: TUM lists the winter semester application period as 15 May to 15 July. The course starts in October. The 2027 dates are expected to follow this pattern, so confirm them on the TUM programme page. Apply for the uni-assist VPD well before 15 July. uni-assist accepts VPD requests all year, and the VPD alone does not count as an application: you must also apply on TUMonline..

Costs

  • No tuition fees. You pay only a student fee, which TUM lists as €97 per semester (about €194 a year) for this programme. Because you are applying with a school qualification from outside Germany, TUM says you need a uni-assist preliminary documentation (VPD), and uni-assist charges a handling fee. Check the current amount on uni-assist. Budget separately for rent and living costs in Heilbronn.
There is no tuition fee, only a small semester fee. You must apply on TUMonline and also get a uni-assist VPD, so start early. Keep Higher Level Maths, because business courses in Germany need H5 or better. The course is at TUM’s Heilbronn campus, not in Munich.
