About the course

An English-taught, six-semester (180 ECTS) degree in media management, content production, digital marketing and PR, including areas such as programmatic advertising, AI, VR and big data. It links business administration, media and communication with practical projects.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • UE publishes no Ireland-specific rule. Under German recognition rules (KMK/ZAB, anabin) the Leaving Certificate gives university entry only with six subjects: at least two at Higher Level H5 or better, the rest at O6/H6 or better, including two languages and Maths at O5/H6 or better. Business and social science areas also require Higher Level Maths at H5 or better, and it is unclear which area applies to this course. Confirm with UE admissions how they apply this to your results.
  • Apply with your transcript, CV, motivation letter (minimum 500 words), language certificate and ID. UE’s bachelor admission test (maths and short essay) applies mainly to non-EU applicants, so ask whether you need to sit it.
  • English: at least B2 (e.g. IELTS Academic 5.5, TOEFL iBT 60, Cambridge First 160, Duolingo 100). UE does not publish an exemption for Leaving Cert English, so check with admissions.

How to apply

  1. Check your subjectsConfirm your Leaving Cert meets the German rules and ask UE whether Higher Level Maths at H5 is needed for this course.
  2. Apply onlineApply through UE’s online application and upload your CV, transcript, ID, English certificate and a 500-word motivation letter.
  3. Admission testComplete the online admission test if UE asks you to after you apply.
  4. Sign contract by 1 Sep 2027Sign the study contract, pay the registration and reservation fees and arrange housing before the September start.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Intakes are in September (winter semester) and March (summer semester). UE’s standing deadlines are 1 September for winter and 28 February for summer, with a waiting list after that. Apply early to allow time for the admission procedure and to find housing..

Costs

  • UE is a private, state-recognised university of applied sciences. Tuition is listed as ‘from €6,662 per year’, described as a current saving offer with terms and conditions, so ask admissions for your exact written fee. The fees page also lists a one-off registration fee of €490 and a €1,500 reservation fee for EU applicants (deducted from total programme costs). Rent and living costs are extra.
This is a private university charging tuition, whereas public German universities are free for EU students apart from a semester contribution. Get the full fee and any extra charges in writing before you sign the study contract.
