About the course

A three-year (six-semester, 180 ECTS) business administration degree covering business, economics, quantitative methods, law and languages, followed by core business modules, data analytics, entrepreneurship, strategy and a bachelor thesis. It includes a compulsory semester abroad and two internship periods. WHU says you can study mainly or only in English.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • WHU asks only for a secondary school diploma or equivalent and publishes nothing specific on the Irish Leaving Cert. Under German rules (KMK/ZAB), the Leaving Cert gives direct university entry only with six subjects, including two languages and Maths at O5/H6 or better. At least two must be Higher Level at H5 or better, and the other four O6/H6 or better. Business and economics courses also need Higher Level Maths at H5. LCA and LCVP are not accepted. Confirm with WHU admissions how it applies these rules.
  • Selection has three stages: an online application (CV, motivation letter, documents), an online analytical test, and an online assessment with a presentation and one-to-one interviews. You also need six weeks of business-related internship or apprenticeship, completed before the programme starts, with proof due by 15 May 2027.
  • English: you need TOEFL iBT 95, IELTS Academic 7, TOEFL ITP 597 or Cambridge C1 Advanced at grade C. WHU says graduates of an English-taught school may be exempt, but English as a subject alone is not enough. Ask WHU to confirm that an English-medium Irish school qualifies.

Costs

  • WHU is a private university. Its fees page states tuition of EUR 9,300 per semester (EUR 18,600 a year, about EUR 55,800 for the six semesters). The page does not say which intake this applies to or whether it will change for 2027 entry. Application fee: WHU lists EUR 75 (with a voucher code) for applications from 1 February to 31 March 2027 and EUR 150 from 1 April to 15 May 2027. It does not clearly state the fee for applications before 1 February. Scholarships and reduced fees for students with limited means are available.
WHU is a private university charging EUR 9,300 per semester, unlike Germany’s tuition-free public universities. You also need a six-week business internship done before you start.
