About the course

A two-year (four-semester) academy profession (AP) degree in digital design. Compared with the Danish-language version, the English line focuses less on content for digital platforms and more on user interfaces and programming. All teaching, group work and reading are in English, and the course includes an internship, a study trip and real projects with companies.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Danish business academies accept a foreign school-leaving qualification that gives entry to higher education in Denmark, and the Leaving Certificate is an EU school-leaving qualification. Requirements are set as Danish subject levels (A, B or C). Business Academy Aarhus does not publish an Ireland-specific rule, so confirm with admissions how your Leaving Cert subjects and levels (Higher or Ordinary, H1-H8/O1-O8) map to these. Do not assume Ordinary Level will count.
  • Programme requirement: English at Danish B level. The academy lists IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL 94 and Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency (at stated minimum scores) as accepted proof, and test results must be no more than 2 years old. It does not say whether Leaving Cert English counts instead, so ask admissions before booking a test.
  • No entrance test, interview or portfolio is mentioned. The Quota 2 selection criteria for this programme are not published on the pages checked.

How to apply

  1. Check requirements earlyIn autumn 2026, email Business Academy Aarhus admissions. Ask whether Leaving Cert English meets English B, how your subjects map to Danish levels, and how they handle Leaving Cert results that come out after their offer date.
  2. Apply on optagelse.dkFrom about 1 February 2027, when the portal is expected to open, apply for Multimedia Design (English-taught line) at Erhvervsakademi Aarhus, code 81565. You can list up to 8 choices in order of priority.
  3. Submit by 15 March 2027Submit under Quota 2 by 12:00 noon Danish time on 15 March 2027. Attach all your documents, including any English test result, because the academy wants everything attached by the deadline.
  4. Offer, results and housingIn 2026, offers came out on 28 July and teaching started on 24 August. Send your final Leaving Cert results as soon as they are released, reply to the offer by the stated deadline and start looking for housing in Aarhus early, as it is hard to find.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: For an August start, apply on optagelse.dk by 15 March at 12:00 noon Danish time (Quota 2, which covers applicants with foreign qualifications). The academy says all documents must be attached by the deadline. In the 2026 cycle optagelse.dk opened on 1 February, offers came out on 28 July and teaching started on 24 August. If places are left over, the academy publishes them on 28 July. In 2026, applicants with non-Danish qualifications had until 1 August at 12:00 to apply for these places, and after that places went on a first-come, first-served basis. The 2027 dates have not been published yet, so confirm them on the academy’s important-dates page..

Costs

  • No tuition fees for EU/EEA citizens, including Irish citizens, at Danish public business academies such as this one. There is no application fee on optagelse.dk. You pay your own living and housing costs in Aarhus.
This is a two-year academy profession degree, not a full bachelor’s, although you can usually add a top-up bachelor’s later. Offers come out in late July, before Leaving Cert results are released, so ask admissions how they assess Irish applicants before you apply by 15 March.
