About the course

Combines anthropological theory and fieldwork methods with marketing and management, looking at markets, consumers and organisations across cultures. It is a small-intake programme taught in Odense and includes a compulsory semester abroad.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • SDU accepts the Leaving Certificate (Established) as a qualifying exam and says Leaving Cert applicants can be assessed on grades alone. It still recommends taking the admission test, because GPA thresholds change from year to year. LCVP students must take the admission test (uniTEST). SDU does not publish how Higher and Ordinary Level map to Danish A/B/C levels, so confirm with SDU admissions and do not assume Ordinary Level will count.
  • Specific requirements (Danish levels): English B, Mathematics B, and one of History B, Social Sciences B, History of Ideas B or Contemporary History B. 75% of places go through Quota 1, ranked on GPA (you need at least 7.0; the cut-off in 2026 was 8.7). The other 25% go through Quota 2, ranked on the entrance examination.
  • English: IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo and similar tests are not accepted. Your school English counts if your grade is at least 2.0 on the Danish scale and your school signs and stamps SDU’s form showing English lessons per year and years studied. Cambridge C1 Advanced (180 or more) is an alternative.

How to apply

  1. Check requirements (autumn 2026)Compare your Leaving Cert subjects with English B, Maths B and History/Social Sciences B, and email SDU admissions to ask which Leaving Cert levels count.
  2. Apply on optagelse.dk by 15 March 2027Apply by 12:00 noon Danish time. Upload your Leaving Cert documents, grade transcripts for the last 3 years, SDU’s statement of hours and the signed English lessons form from your school.
  3. Sit the entrance examinationAfter you apply, SDU invites you to its entrance examination for the Quota 2 places. Taking it gives you a second chance if your grades fall short of the Quota 1 cut-off.
  4. Ask how to send your final resultsSDU wants documentation by 5 July, but Leaving Cert results come out in late August. Ask admissions early how and when to submit your final results, and start looking for housing in Odense.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Applicants with a foreign school-leaving exam, including the Irish Leaving Certificate, must apply on optagelse.dk by 15 March at 12:00 noon Danish time. After applying you are invited to an entrance examination for the Quota 2 places. SDU says documentation such as proof of English B must reach it by 5 July at 12:00 noon. These are the 2026 cycle rules; confirm the 2027 dates on SDU’s site..

Costs

  • No tuition fees for EU/EEA citizens, including Irish citizens. Non-EU/EEA students pay EUR 15,000 per year, paid a full year ahead. There is no application fee on optagelse.dk.
There are only about 40 places and the grade cut-off was 8.7 in 2026, so sit SDU’s entrance examination to improve your chances. IELTS is not accepted: you need a signed and stamped form from your school about your English lessons.
