About the course

A new English-taught professional bachelor in architectural technology and construction management at UCN in Aalborg. UCN plans to start it in 2027, but it is still awaiting final approval, so the plans may change. It lasts 3.5 years (seven semesters), with a 20-week internship in the sixth semester. You can also leave after 2 years with an academy profession degree. UCN already runs an exchange version, where exchange students take selected semesters, so make sure you apply for the full-degree programme.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Danish institutions accept the Leaving Certificate as an EU school-leaving qualification. Each programme sets subject requirements at Danish levels (A, B or C), and the institution decides how Leaving Cert subjects match those levels. UCN has not yet published entry requirements for this English-taught programme, so ask UCN admissions how it treats Leaving Cert subjects. Do not assume Ordinary Level will be accepted.
  • Maths: UCN’s Danish-taught version of this programme (bygningskonstruktør) asks for Danish Mathematics at C level. The English-taught programme’s requirements are not published yet, so confirm the maths requirement with UCN.
  • English requirement: UCN has not published one for this programme yet. English-taught programmes in Denmark usually ask for English at the equivalent of Danish B level. Ask UCN whether it accepts Leaving Cert English or needs IELTS or TOEFL.

How to apply

  1. Check approval and requirementsCheck the UCN programme page to make sure the programme has received final approval for 2027. Contact UCN to confirm the entry requirements and how it treats Leaving Cert subjects and English.
  2. Apply on optagelse.dkApplications open on 1 February 2027. Apply on optagelse.dk and add this programme to your prioritised choices (up to 8) before 15 March 2027, 12:00 noon Danish time.
  3. Upload documentsUpload your Leaving Cert predicted or expected results and any other documents UCN asks for. Then upload your final results when they come out in late August.
  4. Arrange housing earlyIf you get an offer, accept it and start looking for accommodation in Aalborg straight away. Housing is hard to find in Danish student cities.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: UCN says applications open on 1 February 2027 and close on 15 March 2027 for applicants with non-Danish entry qualifications, which includes the Leaving Cert. In Denmark this Quota 2 deadline is normally 12:00 noon Danish time. The programme is new for 2027 and is still awaiting final approval, so check the UCN page for any changes before you apply..

Costs

  • Under Danish rules, EU/EEA citizens pay no tuition at public institutions, so Irish citizens should pay nothing. UCN’s programme page does not mention fees, so check with UCN before applying. There is no fee to apply through optagelse.dk.
This is a new programme and UCN says it is still awaiting final approval, so check that it is going ahead before you apply. Apply for the full-degree programme, not the exchange version. Applications for Denmark go through optagelse.dk, not the CAO, and UCN’s deadline for 2027 is 15 March 2027.
