About the course

A 300 ECTS architecture degree taught in English at IE’s Segovia campus (Escuela Técnica Superior de Estudios Integrados de Arquitectura). It leads to the one-year Master in Architecture needed to practise as an architect in Spain and the EU, and the school holds NAAB International Certification.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • You do not sit the Spanish entrance exam (PAU): as Ireland is an EU education system, the Leaving Certificate gives access if it meets Irish university entry rules (as a guide, UCD asks for six subjects with at least H5 in two). IE does not publish a specific Leaving Cert rule, so confirm with IE admissions, and meet Spanish Ministry of Education requirements for official enrolment.
  • Admission is by IE’s own process: online application, the IE Admissions Test (in English only), an online assessment and a personal interview. The pages checked did not say whether a portfolio is needed, so ask admissions.
  • English: IE does not need a language certificate from applicants who studied in an English-language school system for at least the last two years of secondary school, so Leaving Cert students taught through English should be exempt; confirm with admissions.

How to apply

  1. Apply onlineSubmit IE’s online application early in 6th year (autumn 2026); there are only 40 places.
  2. Admissions testSit the IE Admissions Test in English, and ask admissions whether a portfolio is also expected.
  3. Assessment and interviewComplete the online assessment and personal interview; the committee sends its decision in writing.
  4. Reserve and enrolPay the reservation deposit and send your Leaving Cert and legal documents to IE admissions before 15 October 2027.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Admission rounds each have their own deadline; the dates were not published on the page checked. Earlier rounds have more capacity, and with only 40 places you should apply early in 6th year. Legal documents for official enrolment must reach IE admissions before 15 October of the first year..

Costs

  • IE University is a private university and sets its own fees, which are far higher than at Spanish public universities. The tuition for this degree could not be confirmed on the official website during this check. Confirm the annual fee, any application fee and the reservation deposit with IE admissions.
This is a 5-year degree with only 40 places. To practise as an architect you also need the one-year Master in Architecture afterwards.
