About the course

A four-year, 240 ECTS media and audiovisual communication degree on the Villaviciosa de Odón campus. The study plan includes compulsory, core and optional subjects, with options such as motion graphics, infographics and data processing, transmedia narrative, app design, gamification and entertainment formats. It includes company internships, which you can start once you have passed 50% of your credits, and a final-year internship. The degree also runs in Spanish, so you need to choose the English group.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Under Spanish law (Royal Decree 534/2024), Irish students do not sit the Spanish entrance exam (PAU). Universidad Europea lists Ireland among the EU education systems it accepts. You must get an accreditation from UNED (the UNEDasiss service), and your enrolment depends on sending it before you finish registering. For the Leaving Cert, the basic rule is minimum matriculation. As a guide, UCD asks for six subjects, with at least H5 in two and O6/H7 in the other four, including English and Irish, but each Irish college sets its own rules. Universidad Europea does not publish a minimum Leaving Cert grade, so ask admissions.
  • The university’s admission process includes a competencies and skills assessment (about 30 minutes), an interview or cover letter with motivational questions, and an English test.
  • English: the programme page asks for a B1 (CEFR) level of English, shown by a recognised certificate or the university’s own test. The university says its English test is for students from countries whose official language is not English, so Irish applicants may be exempt. Confirm this with admissions.

How to apply

  1. Contact admissionsContact Universidad Europea admissions through its website. Say that you want the English group and ask for the English-group price in writing.
  2. Sit the admission testsTake the skills assessment and interview, and show your English level if you are asked to.
  3. Pay the reservation feeOnce you are admitted, pay the reservation fee to hold your place, but only after you have the full tuition cost in writing.
  4. Enrol and send documentsApply for your UNEDasiss accreditation. After your Leaving Cert results in August, send it and the other documents the university asks for so you can complete enrolment before classes start in September 2027.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Universidad Europea runs rolling admissions and publishes no single application deadline. You contact admissions, sit the university’s admission tests, then pay a reservation fee once you are admitted. The current intake started on 14 September 2026, so expect 2027 classes to start in mid-September 2027. Dates for 2027 have not been published. The English group has 40 places, so apply early in your Leaving Cert year..

Costs

  • Universidad Europea is a private university and does not publish the annual tuition fee on the programme page, so no figure is shown here. This is not a free course. Once you are admitted, you pay a reservation fee to hold your place. The university says this fee depends on the degree, but the amount is not shown on the admissions pages. Fees at private universities are far higher than at Spanish public universities. Ask admissions in writing for the 2027/28 tuition fee and reservation fee for the English group.
This is a private university and the tuition fee is not published online, so get the exact English-group price in writing before you pay a reservation fee. The degree also runs in Spanish, so make sure you apply for the English group.
