About the course

A four-year, 240 ECTS official sport science degree on the Villaviciosa de Odón campus, following a new study plan introduced in 2024/25. It covers subjects such as structure and function, exercise physiology and biomechanics. You can specialise in health and physical activity, leisure and sports management, or sports training, and there are more than twelve sports categories. It includes curricular internships, which you can start once you have passed 50% of your credits, with partners such as the Real Madrid Foundation and Spanish sports federations. The degree runs in English and Spanish groups, so you need to choose the English group.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Under Spanish law (Royal Decree 534/2024), Irish students do not sit the Spanish entrance exam (PAU). Universidad Europea lists Ireland among the EU education systems it accepts. You must get an accreditation from UNED (the UNEDasiss service), and your enrolment depends on sending it before you finish registering. For the Leaving Cert, the basic rule is minimum matriculation. As a guide, UCD asks for six subjects, with at least H5 in two and O6/H7 in the other four, but each Irish college sets its own rules. Universidad Europea does not publish a minimum Leaving Cert grade, so ask admissions.
  • The university’s admission process includes a competencies and skills assessment (about 30 minutes), an interview or cover letter with motivational questions, and an English test. No physical fitness test is mentioned, but ask admissions.
  • Choose the English group, because the same degree is also taught in Spanish. No English level is published for this degree. The university says its English test is for students from countries whose official language is not English, so Irish applicants may be exempt. Confirm this with admissions.

How to apply

  1. Contact admissionsApply online through Universidad Europea’s admissions page and say that you want the English group.
  2. Sit the admission testsTake the skills assessment and interview, and the English test if you are asked to. Ask whether there is any physical test.
  3. Reserve your placeOnce you are admitted, pay the reservation fee to hold your place, but only after you have the full cost in writing. Check the sports grant deadlines.
  4. Enrol with documentsApply for your UNEDasiss accreditation. After your Leaving Cert results in August, send it and your certificates to the university as it instructs, then start classes in September 2027.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Universidad Europea runs rolling admissions and publishes no single deadline. Apply early in your Leaving Cert year. The current intake started on 14 September 2026, so expect 2027 classes to start in mid-September 2027. Grant deadlines may be earlier, so check them with admissions..

Costs

  • Universidad Europea is a private university and does not publish the tuition fee on the programme page, so no figure is shown here. This is not a free course. Once you are admitted, you pay a reservation fee to hold your place, and the amount depends on the degree. The university has a scholarships and financial aid section, so ask about sports grants and their deadlines. Ask admissions in writing for the 2027/28 tuition and reservation fee for the English group.
The same degree is taught in both English and Spanish, so make sure you are placed in the English group. This is a private university and the fee is not published, so get the full cost in writing before you pay a reservation fee.
