About the course

Four-year, 240-ECTS economics degree taught in English at URJC’s Madrid-Quintana site. It has run since 2016-17. URJC lists it among its English-taught degrees, and the Spanish-taught groups run at Vicálvaro, Fuenlabrada and Móstoles. URJC’s list of weighted subjects for 2027-28 includes ‘Economía (Inglés) (Madrid)’, so the degree is planned for 2027 entry.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Irish Leaving Cert students apply in URJC’s quota for students from EU school systems. You need UNEDasiss accreditation, which converts your results into a Spanish admission grade. Spanish law also requires you to meet the rules for getting into university in Ireland (as a guide, UCD asks for six subjects with at least H5 in two and O6/H7 in the other four, including English and Irish). URJC publishes nothing specific on the Leaving Cert, so confirm with admissions.
  • Places are ranked by admission grade. URJC says you can raise your grade with UNED PCE subject tests (taken through UNEDasiss), with recognition of subjects from your own school system, or with the admission phase of the Spanish entrance exam (PAU). URJC’s 2027-28 table lists the subjects it gives weight to for this degree.
  • English: URJC requires at least B2 English for all its English-taught degrees. You can prove it with a certificate from URJC’s approved list (Annex 1), by passing URJC’s online English test (€87.48, pass/fail) or by adding a language accreditation to your UNEDasiss credential. URJC does not say that Leaving Cert English or being a native speaker is enough, so plan to show one of these.

How to apply

  1. Sort out your English proofGet a B2-or-higher certificate from URJC’s approved list, or plan to take URJC’s online English test. You can also ask UNEDasiss to add a language accreditation to your credential.
  2. Apply to UNEDasissApply for UNEDasiss accreditation for your Leaving Cert. Consider PCE subject tests in subjects URJC gives weight to for Economics.
  3. Pre-enrol with URJCIn the June–July 2027 pre-enrolment window, choose Economía (Inglés) at Madrid-Quintana. Upload your UNED accreditation and English proof (or your test application). Confirm the 2027 dates on URJC’s admission page.
  4. Accept and enrolCheck the admission results and complete enrolment (matrícula) online by the deadline.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: URJC has not yet published its 2027 dates. On its admission page, the most recent pre-enrolment window for applicants from EU school systems ran from 15 June (09:00) to 13 July (14:00). Applications go through the shared online system of the Madrid public universities. Get your UNEDasiss accreditation well before then. If you have no English certificate, you must apply for URJC’s English test through the pre-enrolment platform. In the 2026/27 late-application round, the test application deadline was 24 July and the test was on 27 July. Check URJC’s admission page for the 2027 dates..

Costs

  • Public university: EU students pay the same as Spanish students. URJC’s 2026/27 price table charges €16.92 per credit for a first enrolment in Economía, which is in the Community of Madrid’s lowest price band (level 3). That comes to about €1,015 for a 60-credit year. New students also pay small admin charges, such as €27.54 to open a student file, €6.11 in secretariat fees and €1.12 for school insurance. If you have no English certificate, URJC’s English test costs €87.48. The 2027/28 prices are not yet published. UNEDasiss charges its own accreditation fee.
