About the course

A four-year, 240 ECTS official degree taught in English that trains you as an early-years (infant) teacher in Spain. It includes 51 credits of placement in years 3 and 4 in education centres in the Community of Madrid.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Ireland is an EU education system, so under Spanish law you do not sit the Spanish entrance exam (PAU). Instead you must meet the rules for getting into university in Ireland (as a guide, UCD asks for six subjects with at least H5 in two and O6/H7 in the other four, including English and Irish). UNEDasiss converts your Leaving Cert to a Spanish score out of 10, and places are ranked on that score. URJC publishes nothing specific on the Leaving Cert, so confirm with URJC admissions.
  • URJC says there are no special requirements for this degree. If competition is strong, you can try to raise your score towards 14 with UNED PCE subject tests.
  • The programme page lists English as the language of teaching but states no minimum English level. A native speaker with Leaving Cert English should be fine, but confirm with URJC.

How to apply

  1. Check Irish entry rulesMake sure your expected Leaving Cert results meet the Irish university matriculation rules (for example, six subjects including English and Irish).
  2. Get UNEDasiss accreditationApply to UNEDasiss (applications usually open around February 2027, about EUR 36). Consider PCE subject tests to raise your score.
  3. Pre-register with URJCPre-register online through URJC in the ordinary round (early summer 2027; dates to be confirmed). Choose the English-taught Pre-Primary Education degree at Madrid-Vicálvaro, not the ESERP option.
  4. Accept and enrolWatch for the admission lists. If you get an offer, enrol (matrícula) within the deadline and pay the first instalment.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: First apply for UNEDasiss accreditation (applications usually open February to November). Then pre-register with URJC online, normally in early summer for the ordinary round. URJC has not yet published its 2027 pre-registration dates, so check the URJC admission pages in spring 2027..

Costs

  • URJC is a public university, so EU students pay the same regulated public price per credit as Spanish students, set by the Community of Madrid. The course is 60 credits a year. We could not confirm the 2026/27 amount in euro, so check the URJC public prices page. This course is not tuition-free. UNEDasiss accreditation costs about EUR 36 on top. The affiliated centre ESERP is private and charges its own fees.
The English-taught public group is on URJC’s Madrid-Vicálvaro campus. The degree is also listed at the private affiliated centre ESERP, so make sure you pick the Vicálvaro option. It qualifies you as an early-years teacher in Spain, so check recognition in Ireland before you commit.
