About the course

A 240 ECTS (4-year) chemical engineering degree taught in English, with daytime study at Centria’s Kokkola campus (Talonpojankatu 2). It is included in Centria’s January 2027 joint application, with studies starting in autumn 2027.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Finland accepts a foreign school qualification that gives eligibility for higher education in the country where it was awarded, so a completed Leaving Certificate that meets Irish entry rules should make you eligible. No minimum Leaving Cert grades, subjects or Higher/Ordinary levels are set, and CAO points are not converted. Centria does not publish specific Leaving Cert rules, so confirm with admissions.
  • In the January 2027 joint application, all places are filled through the online International UAS Exam (23 March 2027), not by school results. Check the exam content on UASinfo. Centria also lists a rolling admission (30 October 2026 to 31 May 2027). Ask Centria how that round selects students and whether a Leaving Certificate can be used.
  • You must prove your English even if you are a native speaker. Accepted tests include IELTS Academic (6.0 overall), TOEFL iBT (3.5 on the new scale for tests from 21 January 2026), PTE Academic (55) and Cambridge English (169). Alternatively, you can use upper secondary schooling completed in an EU/EEA country or the UK if it was taught and assessed entirely in English and the documents clearly show the language. Get a school letter confirming English-medium teaching. Gaelscoil students should plan on taking a test.

How to apply

  1. Choose your routeDecide between the January joint application (International UAS Exam) and Centria’s rolling admission (30 October 2026 to 31 May 2027). Confirm with Centria how the rolling round selects students.
  2. Apply on Studyinfo.fiSubmit the joint application between 7 and 21 January 2027.
  3. Upload ID and English proofUpload your passport or EU ID card and your proof of English by 28 January 2027 at 15:00 Finnish time.
  4. Prepare for and sit the examComplete pre-identification between 10 and 12 March 2027, sit the International UAS Exam online on 23 March 2027, and check your results on Studyinfo by 14 April 2027.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Joint application on Studyinfo.fi: 7 to 21 January 2027. Proof of English, ID documents and any requests for individual exam arrangements are due by 28 January 2027 at 15:00 Finnish time. Pre-identification runs from 10 March (08:00) to 12 March 2027 (15:00). The online International UAS Exam is on 23 March 2027 from 12:00 noon Finnish time, and results are published by 14 April 2027 at the latest. Costs

  • No tuition fee for EU/EEA citizens. Centria’s programme page lists a tuition fee of 9,500 euro for non-EU/EEA students. Check Studyinfo for any application or exam fee.
In the joint application your Leaving Cert results are not used to rank you; the online International UAS Exam decides. With only 11 places, prepare well for the exam.
