About the course

A four-year, 240-credit engineering degree in information technology, taught in English and focused on energy-efficient, responsible and sustainable software development, including optimisation, measuring environmental impact and green coding. In the blended format you study online 2-3 days a week and come to Campus Allegro in Pietarsaari once a month for on-campus sessions (Thursday 12:00-19:00 and Friday 8:00-14:00).

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Finland accepts a foreign school-leaving qualification that gives university entry in the country where it was awarded, so a completed Leaving Certificate meeting Irish entry rules should count. No Finnish body sets minimum grades, subjects or Higher/Ordinary levels, and CAO points are not converted. Confirm with Centria admissions.
  • In the joint application, Centria fills all places on this programme through the online International UAS Exam (23 March 2027), so Leaving Cert results are used for eligibility, not for ranking.
  • English: you must prove your English with a recognised test or your previous studies, with the proof submitted by 28 January 2027. The accepted methods are listed on UASinfo.fi. Schooling taught in English can count if your documents show it, so ask your school for a letter; Gaelscoil students should expect to need IELTS or TOEFL.

  • No tuition for EU/EEA citizens at Finnish universities of applied sciences. Centria charges €9,500 a year only to non-EU/EEA students. Applying through Studyinfo.fi is free. The blended format means travelling to Pietarsaari once a month, so budget for travel and accommodation as well as living costs.
