About the course

A 210-credit software-focused business degree covering current programming languages, user interface design, operating systems, web development, databases, cloud operations and software robotics, together with business and innovation. Teaching is hands-on and team-based, with projects for partner companies, a 30-credit work placement and a 15-credit thesis.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Finland accepts a completed Leaving Certificate that makes you eligible for higher education in Ireland. No Finnish body sets minimum Leaving Cert grades, subjects or Higher/Ordinary levels, and CAO points are not converted. Confirm with HAMK admissions.
  • HAMK’s programme page lists no maths or other subject requirement. Leaving Cert holders cannot be ranked on school results in certificate-based selection, so in the joint application they are normally ranked on the International UAS Exam (23 March 2027). HAMK does not say how direct-application applicants are selected, so check the admission criteria on Studyinfo.
  • English at B2 level is required. The UAS accept EU schooling taught and assessed entirely in English if your documents show the language of instruction, so get a school letter. Otherwise IELTS Academic 6.0, TOEFL iBT 3.5 (new scale), PTE Academic 55 or Cambridge 169.

How to apply

  1. Choose your routeDecide between HAMK’s direct application (1 Oct 2026 to 14 May 2027) and the joint application (7-21 Jan 2027). Read the admission criteria for each route on Studyinfo.
  2. Apply on Studyinfo.fiSubmit the application before the deadline for your route and upload your school documents.
  3. Prove your EnglishUpload an English school letter or test result. For the joint application the deadline is 28 January 2027.
  4. Sit the selection testFor the joint application, register for and sit the online International UAS Exam on 23 March 2027. Results come out by 14 April 2027.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Two routes for autumn 2027: the national joint application on Studyinfo, 7-21 January 2027 (15:00 Finnish time), or HAMK’s direct application, 1 October 2026 to 14 May 2027 (15:00 Finnish time). English-language proof for the joint application must be attached by 28 January 2027..

Costs

  • No tuition fee for EU/EEA students. Non-EU/EEA students pay EUR 9,700 per academic year. Check Studyinfo for any application fee when you apply.
This is a business degree (BBA) with a strong software and programming focus, not an engineering degree. Your place depends on the selection test rather than your Leaving Cert points.
