About the course

A 240-ECTS degree teaching horticulture from technical and biological angles: plant knowledge, cultivation systems, crop timing, quality management and production methods using renewable resources, plus business subjects such as cost calculation and marketing. It includes 30 credits of work placement and a 15-credit thesis, at the Lepaa campus in Hattula.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Finland accepts a completed Leaving Certificate as a school-leaving qualification if it would give you entry to higher education in Ireland; no Finnish body sets minimum Leaving Cert grades or levels and CAO points are not converted. HAMK does not publish how Leaving Cert results are scored, so confirm with admissions@hamk.fi.
  • HAMK’s direct application selects most bachelor’s students on upper secondary school performance or SAT scores; the joint application uses the International UAS Exam. Confirm which rounds this programme runs for 2027.
  • English: you must prove your English. The Finnish UAS rules accept an upper secondary qualification completed in English in the EU/EEA, or tests such as IELTS Academic 6.0. Get a school letter confirming you were taught and assessed in English; Gaelscoil students should plan on IELTS or TOEFL.
