Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Finland accepts a completed Leaving Certificate as a foreign qualification that gives eligibility for higher education in Ireland. KAMK sets no minimum Leaving Cert grades, subjects or Higher/Ordinary levels, and your CAO points do not count. KAMK’s certificate-based selection uses only the Finnish matriculation exam, IB, EB and German Abitur/DIA, so Leaving Cert holders cannot be ranked on school results. Confirm with KAMK admissions (admissions@kamk.fi).
  • Leaving Cert applicants are ranked on either the online International UAS Exam (23 March 2027) or the SAT. For the SAT you need at least 400 in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and at least 400 in Maths. Send the scores to KAMK (SAT code 7787) by 29 March 2027.
  • English: you can use EU secondary schooling that was ‘taught and assessed entirely in English’, but the language of instruction must be clearly shown on your educational documents. The Leaving Cert does not state this, so a school letter confirming it is needed as supporting evidence, and it may not be accepted on its own. The safer route is an accepted test: IELTS Academic 6.0, TOEFL iBT 3.5 (new scale, for tests from 21 January 2026) or PTE Academic 55. Gaelscoil students will need a test.

How to apply

  1. Choose your ranking routeBy autumn 2026, decide between the International UAS Exam (23 March 2027) and the SAT (at least 400 in each section, scores to code 7787 by 29 March 2027). If you choose the SAT, book an early test date.
  2. Prepare documentsBefore January, get your Leaving Cert documents or school statement, proof of English (an accepted test result, or a letter from your school confirming you were taught and assessed in English), and your passport or EU identity card.
  3. Apply on Studyinfo.fiApply between 7 January and 21 January 2027 (15:00 Finnish time), attaching your documents by the stated deadline. Sit the International UAS Exam online on 23 March 2027 if that is your route.
  4. Accept and finaliseResults come out by 31 May 2027, and you must accept by 13 July 2027. Your admission stays conditional until KAMK checks your original certificates at the start of studies in autumn 2027.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Joint application on Studyinfo.fi: 7 January 2027 (08:00) to 21 January 2027 (15:00 Finnish time). International UAS Exam: 23 March 2027, online from 12:00 Finnish time. If you use the SAT, scores must reach KAMK by 29 March 2027. Results by 31 May 2027. Accept your place by 13 July 2027. Studies start in autumn 2027. This programme is not offered through the autumn 2026 rolling admission for school leavers..

Costs

  • No tuition for EU/EEA citizens, so Irish students pay nothing. Tuition fees at KAMK apply only to non-EU/EEA students. The €100 Studyinfo application fee also applies only to applicants from outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland. The International UAS Exam and SAT test fees are separate.
Your Leaving Cert makes you eligible, but it cannot be used to rank you. You will be ranked on the International UAS Exam or the SAT, so plan for one of these.
