About the course

A full-time English-taught Business Information Technology degree (Bachelor of Business Administration, 210 ECTS) at the Kajaani campus, focused on video game development. First-year basics cover project work, business, languages and communication. After the first semester you specialise in game art and graphics, programming or game production. The course is practical and work-oriented, with a work placement and a thesis.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Finland accepts a completed Leaving Certificate as a foreign qualification that gives eligibility for higher education in Ireland. No Finnish body sets minimum Leaving Cert grades, subjects or Higher/Ordinary levels, and your CAO points do not count. Certificate-based ranking uses only the Finnish matriculation exam, IB, EB and German Abitur/DIA, so it is not open to Leaving Cert holders. Confirm with KAMK admissions (admissions@kamk.fi).
  • In the January 2027 joint application this programme uses KAMK’s own entrance exam, not the International UAS Exam. See the Studyinfo admission criteria for format and dates. KAMK says its rolling admission uses certificate-based selection or the SAT (at least 400 in Reading and Writing and 400 in Maths, KAMK code 7787), but it does not say how Game Development selects in the rolling round. Confirm with KAMK before relying on that route.
  • English: you can use EU/EEA upper secondary schooling that was taught and assessed entirely in English, but the language of instruction must be clearly shown on your documents. The Leaving Cert does not state this, so get a school letter confirming it. Otherwise use an accepted test: IELTS Academic 6.0, TOEFL iBT 60 (tests before 21 January 2026) or 3.5 on the new scale, PTE Academic 55, or Cambridge English 169 (B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2). These are the shared Finnish UAS minimums on uasinfo.fi, so confirm with KAMK that they apply to this programme. In the joint application, language proof is due by 28 January 2027 (15:00). Gaelscoil students should expect to need a test.

How to apply

  1. Pick your roundRolling admission runs 27 August to 10 December 2026 (10 places). The January 2027 joint application has 30 places and uses KAMK’s own entrance exam.
  2. Prepare documentsGet your school documents, a letter confirming you were taught and assessed in English (or an accepted English test), and your passport or EU identity card. Check the Studyinfo admission criteria for the entrance exam tasks.
  3. Apply on Studyinfo.fiApply by 21 January 2027 (15:00 Finnish time) for the joint application, or earlier through the rolling admission. Upload your language proof by 28 January 2027, then take KAMK’s entrance exam as instructed.
  4. Accept and finaliseJoint application results come out by 31 May 2027, and you must accept by 13 July 2027. Your admission stays conditional until your original certificates are checked when studies start in August 2027.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Main round: joint application on Studyinfo.fi, 7 January 2027 (08:00) to 21 January 2027 (15:00 Finnish time), with selection by KAMK’s own entrance exam. Results by 31 May 2027. Accept your place by 13 July 2027 (15:00 Finnish time). Earlier option: KAMK rolling admission runs from 27 August 2026 until places are filled or 10 December 2026 at the latest, for studies starting in August 2027. Check the Studyinfo admission criteria for how this programme selects in the rolling round and for the dates and format of KAMK’s own entrance exam..

Costs

  • No tuition for EU/EEA citizens, so Irish students pay nothing. Tuition fees apply only to non-EU/EEA students. The €100 Studyinfo application fee also applies only to applicants from outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland.
This programme uses KAMK’s own entrance exam, not the International UAS Exam, so check the Studyinfo admission criteria early for the exam dates and format. The 10 rolling-admission places close by 10 December 2026 at the latest.
