Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Finland accepts the Leaving Certificate as a foreign school qualification that gives eligibility for higher education in the country where it was awarded. No Finnish body sets minimum Leaving Cert grades, subjects or Higher/Ordinary levels, and CAO points are not used. In the joint application, Irish applicants are ranked on KAMK’s own entrance exam for this programme, because certificate-based ranking covers only the Finnish matriculation exam, IB, EB and German Abitur. Confirm with admissions@kamk.fi.
  • Joint application: KAMK’s own entrance exam for this programme (not the International UAS Exam). Rolling admission (graduates only): certificate-based selection with a minimum 54% grade average, a video task sent with the application that you must pass, then an interview. Alternatively, SAT scores of at least 400 in each section, with no video task required.
  • All applicants must prove their English, including native speakers. Under the UAS rules, EU schooling taught and assessed entirely in English can count if your documents show it. Get a school letter confirming this, because the Leaving Cert certificate does not state it. In rolling admission, certificate-based applicants without a language certificate may be assessed at interview.

How to apply

  1. Check the exam details (autumn 2026)Read the Studyinfo admission criteria for this programme to find the KAMK entrance exam dates and format, and plan around your Leaving Cert year.

  3. Sit the KAMK entrance exam (spring 2027)Take the programme’s own entrance exam when invited. Requests for special exam arrangements are due by 28 January 2027 at 15:00.
  4. Accept and send final results (by 13 Jul 2027)Results are out by 31 May 2027. Accept your place by 13 July 2027 and submit your final Leaving Cert certificate after accepting.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Joint application on Studyinfo: 7 January 2027 (8:00) to 21 January 2027 (15:00 Finnish time), 25 places. Selection is by KAMK’s own entrance exam, whose dates and format are published on Studyinfo. Results are out by 31 May 2027 at the latest, and you must accept your place by 13 July 2027. There is also a rolling admission round from 27 August to 10 December 2026 (15 places), but it is open only to applicants who already hold their final school certificate..

Costs

  • No tuition fee for EU/EEA citizens. KAMK charges tuition (10,000 euro a year for bachelor’s degrees) only to non-EU/EEA students. The Finnish application fee (100 euro) also applies only to applicants from outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland.
Places depend on KAMK’s own entrance exam, not on Leaving Cert points. Rolling admission in autumn 2026 is only open if you already have your final Leaving Cert certificate, and that route includes a video task that eliminates applicants who do not pass it.
