About the course

A 210 ECTS programme on the Lappeenranta campus covering hotel operations, restaurant functions, tourism markets, financial accounting, customer relations, marketing and leadership, with options such as revenue management, digital marketing or well-being tourism. The main language is English, with some Finnish language and culture studies, and learning is practical, with a compulsory work placement and projects with real companies.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • LAB’s rolling admission accepts a completed upper-secondary qualification that gives eligibility for higher education in the country where it was awarded, so a completed Leaving Certificate that meets Irish entry rules should count. LAB does not use CAO points; it converts your school-leaving average into a percentage (0-100%) and compares it with a threshold for the programme. LAB has not published a threshold for this degree or how H1-H8/O1-O8 grades are converted, so confirm with LAB admissions.
  • For the January 2027 intake, SAT scores (minimum 600 Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and 550 Maths) were an alternative route. No entrance exam or interview is mentioned.
  • English: applicants who completed upper secondary education in English in an EU/EEA country or Ireland are exempt from a language test, but the official document must show English was the language of instruction. The Leaving Cert certificate does not state this, so get a school letter; Gaelscoil students should expect to need IELTS (6.5) or TOEFL iBT (90).
