About the course

An English-taught engineering degree in AI development, data use and data engineering, built around real business projects. It is taught as blended learning: online classes on weekdays (8:00-16:00 Finnish time) plus compulsory 2-3 day on-campus periods in Rovaniemi each month.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Finland accepts a school-leaving qualification that gives entry to higher education in the country where it was awarded, so a completed Leaving Certificate that meets Irish entry rules should count. No minimum H or O grades are set and CAO points are not converted. Confirm with Lapland UAS admissions (admissions@lapinamk.fi).
  • Leaving Cert applicants are normally ranked on an entrance exam. In 2025 Lapland UAS used the common national online exam (the International UAS Exam) for this programme. For 2027 that exam is on 23 March 2027. For technology programmes, the exam includes a maths section and a 30-minute advanced maths and physics section, so strong Leaving Cert Maths helps. No minimum Maths level is formally set.
  • English: upper secondary schooling in an EU/EEA country counts if it was taught and assessed entirely in English. Get a school letter confirming this, or use an accepted test such as IELTS Academic 6.0, PTE Academic 55 or Cambridge English 169. Proof is due by 28 January 2027.

Places are decided by an entrance exam, not by Leaving Cert points. The course is mostly online, with compulsory on-campus periods in Rovaniemi every month, so plan to live in or travel to Finland.
