Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Finland accepts a completed Leaving Certificate that gives you entry to higher education in Ireland. No Finnish body sets minimum Leaving Cert grades, subjects or Higher/Ordinary levels, and CAO points are not converted. Confirm with Metropolia admissions.
  • Leaving Cert holders applying through the joint application to English-taught UAS bachelor’s programmes are usually ranked by the online International UAS Exam (23 March 2027), not by school results. Check Studyinfo.fi to confirm the selection method for Electronics. The course includes mathematical analysis, so strong maths and physics will help.
  • English: an upper secondary education completed in an EU/EEA country is accepted if it was taught and assessed entirely in English and this is clearly shown on your documents. Get a letter from your school confirming it, because the Leaving Cert certificate does not say so. Otherwise you need a test such as IELTS Academic 6.0, PTE Academic 55 or Cambridge 169. Gaelscoil students should expect to need a test. Submit proof by 28 January 2027.
